How can I thank a poster for something?

How can I thank a poster? He's blocked his wall. Blocked private messages. Thought I'd just find him in a thread and thank him that way. Is that an infraction for derailing?

Quote him and Say, "I totally agree, and BTW thanks for letting me hack your checking account!!!" or whatever it is you be thanking him/her/it for.
