The technology known as chromatography arose from a Russian botanist (an academic) studying the separation of flower pigments. A botanist in a university is an academic. Chromatography is used both in research & industry.

That's not a personal attack, it's a fact.
There is no ad hominem, there's a statement of fact, namely the fact that it's been proven that you have no earthly what you're talking about.
Stick with topics you know something about if you want to avoid being called out on it.

For the purpose of answering your question as to whether technology arose from academics, in the case of chromatography it arose from lab experiments in an academic institution. So your reply above has no meaning.
