To preserve internet speeds for telecommuting, should porn by banned?

I am experiencing very slow internet speed right now, and it’s frustrating me, so I got to thinking, since Internet pornography is non-essential and takes a lot of bandwidth, should it be outlawed by emergency declaration?

This is actually pretty easy to implement, ISPs can be ordered to stop allowing certain websites to be accessed.

Viewing streaming pornography could then be a misdemeanor and viewers arrested.

Thus allowing faster internet for everyone else

Freedom of speech.

Don't be a pouter - cycle your router!

I don't want to give them more power. I see no reason to regulate them as a utility. This brought broadband expansion to a standstill when Obama tried it.

I have no problem regulating them to prohibit them from limiting websites because of their political, religious or corporate bias. We regulate electrical, natural gas and phone utilities, so why should ISPs be immune?

I don't understand how or why you would not support net neutrality? Do you not support free speech, separation of chich and state, or freedom of the press?

Network neutrality, or simply net neutrality, is the principle that Internet service providers must treat all Internet communications equally, and not discriminate or charge differently based on user,

And I’m sure you are familiar with every one of them...

Why do you have a problem with nudity or sex? Humans are innately sexual creatures. Should we all have to dress in shapeless head to toe capes so you cannot see our bodies?

You seem very uptight about sex.

Lower resolution videos would help. Instead of 4K everyone will watch in 480p.

You'll have to squint.

In case you didn't know, there have already been a couple of instances where outlets like YouTube had to scale back to 480p max to accommodate the extra traffic and the clogged pipes.

Shut off one of the oldest and most valuable media revenue streams that exists on the internet?
Yeah I don't think so.
In fact, pretty much every major or minor improvement IN online media quality was and is driven by pr0n.

The solution is to increase and expand carrying capacity.
In fact, doing so would reinforce the economic security, of the industry and the larger economy.
It would be one more bounceback in tough times.

You are talking about a very small slice of what the Obama era regs required. It is far more complicated which is why the FCC undid the damage caused by making them a Title II utility. That you think they aren't regulated shows how lacking your knowledge is. Obama took away FTC oversight of ISP business practices. RIFO restored that oversight. RIFO was a win for rural, small, and municipal ISP's for whom Title II was burdensome and sometimes impossible to comply with. Why you would want the internet forced to comply with rules written in the 1930's before there was even television in most of America's homes is far beyond me.

Yeah, I think you'd love Saudi Arabia. They are just your type.

EMN wants to live in a religious dictatorship with limited rights, he'd love Saudi Arabia.

I think whatever porn the OP is into is probably some pretty sick stuff. The people who condemn porn the most tend to have the most ****ed up fetishes.

That's extremely likely. He's into some very sick stuff and can't self control so he wants the government to cut him off. It's a lot like how the most fiery anti-gay pastor turns out to be screwing dudes in parked cars behind Walmart.

Oh look, more fascism from DP's neighborhood fascist. Why do you hate our Constitution and our freedom?

So damn good... Love Slippin' Kimmy.

Yessir!

The wife insists that we met Rea Seahorn at the Neptune Festival here at the beach some years ago, but I can't remember her.

I know she did live here Virginia Beach and in Norfolk for some time.

Please wait a day or so.....I'm binge watching "Better Call Saul" today.

That is fine. I binge watched the entire first season of Star Trek Picard the other day

The Internet really isn’t as pornography-filled as you might think. In fact, according to one expert, only 42,337 of the one million most-trafficked websites online are offering sex-related content, which translates into somewhere around 4% of sites on the Internet.

I have nothing to clear. Maybe you do and so you’re projecting perversion on other people. But your accusation against me is baseless.

Your belief that porn is slowing down the internet is baseless.

People who are not getting any often are.

Point being the ISPs oversold their networks.

Or we could invest in infrastructure and improve internet bandwidth for everyone instead if giving ISPs more control over the lives of their customers. We need absolute net neutrality now so to stop a for-profit company from throttling or restricting what its customers use. The internet is now a utility and its uses needs to be protected as such.

Or we could be free. Keep letting the ISPs spend hundreds of billions on their internet infrastucture and maintaining mutually beneficial agreements with their customers. We absolutely do not want net neutrality so that ISPs can keep things working efficiently instead of being bogged down by being forced to treat pron the same as industry.

I'm doing my part. We are watching Scarecrow and Mrs King on DVD. Others can have my share to watch porn (have that on DVD, bluray, harddrive too), at least at night.

As for the OP, try a deserted island somewhere that you can control all the programming coming to you and everyone on that island. Maybe that will make you happier without trying to take away our freedoms, rughts.

I like the 'arrested for a misdemeanor' part. Don't go half-assed fascist; that's a felony!

You are right, we absolutely do not want Net Neutrality with government censoring who can broadcast what and how much. That is why we have the First Amendment in the first place, to keep government out of our conversations where they have no business being. The only people who advocate for Net Neutrality are the fascists, who want government's dictatorial control over the Internet.

In the name of social equality.

In the name of social equality.

If you want social equality move to a communist country. I doubt you will find it there, but you have a far better chance of finding it in a communist nation than in the US. In the US we only recognize the equality of the individual, not the communist collective. The Declaration of Independence does not say "…that all societies are created equal…" it says "…that all men are created equal…" (emphasis added). As in each individual, not the collective. It is one of the things that makes Democrats, and all leftists, anti-American.

Now these people want the government to step in and "take over the internet."

Net Neutrality prevents censorship.
