To preserve internet speeds for telecommuting, should porn by banned?

I am experiencing very slow internet speed right now, and it’s frustrating me, so I got to thinking, since Internet pornography is non-essential and takes a lot of bandwidth, should it be outlawed by emergency declaration?

This is actually pretty easy to implement, ISPs can be ordered to stop allowing certain websites to be accessed.

Viewing streaming pornography could then be a misdemeanor and viewers arrested.

Thus allowing faster internet for everyone else

Censorship starts with one self righteous fool. First it is porn, then public book burning of books never read.

The OP didn't just ask an incredibly moronic question. You did.

I'm just enjoying watching conservatives embrace big government when their guy is in charge. It's a beautiful thing to see people lose their masks. How is asking if the government should control the internet not moronic?

It fun to see Conservatives finally be open about hating freedom and loving fascism.

We have a word for that in the US. We call it "censorship." If it was by government order, then it would also be a deliberate violation of the First Amendment.

The OP didn't just ask an incredibly moronic question. You did.
Yes, the OP did. And you responded that is may also violate the 1A in addition to being incredibly stupid.

You have argued in favor of banning porn before the Covid19 virus outbreak, so don't try to claim that it is about the use of bandwidth now.

YouTube and Netflix are the biggest users of internet bandwidth by a very large margin, so maybe you should be outraged about people watching cat videos and binging reruns instead.

will the five old rich guys that Republicans want to give the entire country to still be able to watch porn? i think that this is the critical question. sorry, poor people. hang up the AOL and get out of the way so that a crusty old rich dude can watch The Greatest Of Suck ****ing Part 7.

I think whatever porn the OP is into is probably some pretty sick stuff. The people who condemn porn the most tend to have the most ****ed up fetishes.

No, the OP didn't. If you had a clue and actually followed the thread instead of just making sh*t up out of thin air, I was referring to MrPeanut's question, not the OP's question.

If you could read you would know the government is specifically prohibited from "abridging the freedom of speech," which includes pornography.

I would seriously consider suing your teachers if I were you, because they clearly cheated you out of an education.

Nobody gives a crap stay the **** out of other people's lives. That way your hypocrisy will not be so blatant.

I do not watch pornography so there is no hypocrisy in my position

Nah, in view of "stay at home" orders from government telecommuting should be banned because it slows down porn.

Do you think we could keep porn if we called it online sex education??

By the govt? No. Certainly if it became a problem, ISPs and content providers would no doubt be willing to help by reducing overhead. This just proves net neutrality was wrong. Society NEEDS to prioritize internet traffic just like any resource when it becomes scarce. Maybe that means ISPs charge netflix or porn providers more right now.

What would I find if I accessed your search history for the past 6 months? What would I find on your hard drive?

Facebook, DP, a lot of Wikipedia articles, the daily wire, various news sites, CatholicMatch, religious content of varying types. Travel blogs, stuff about airplanes, resources for learning the Spanish language.

That kind of stuff. No pornography.

My hard drive? Whatever gets stored on there, pictures, documents, archived emails. No pornography.

Some how Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein names come to mind.

I'm not sure what the OP is worried about. In a week, porn will just be two people in hazmat suits rubbing up against one another, and only 5 guys in Kentucky will want to watch that. Problem solved!

None of that stuff seems very pressing. Deal with slow internet speeds for the sake of freedom

Irony:

A thread on an internet discussion board about preserving internet speeds, is full of people pointlessly bitching to each other about how best to preserve internet speeds.

Um, how about this...log the **** off, I've got porn to surf.

Or we could invest in infrastructure and improve internet bandwidth for everyone instead if giving ISPs more control over the lives of their customers. We need absolute net neutrality now so to stop a for-profit company from throttling or restricting what its customers use. The internet is now a utility and its uses needs to be protected as such.
