How Long Before Space Junk Cuts Us Off?
NASA: India's 'terrible' anti-satellite missile test endangered ISS astronauts | World News | Sky News
Here's the original DP discussion.
India’s middle test threatens ISS
I thought I'd re-post these links here in the science section so we could talk about the Kessler effect.
My question is how long will it be at the present rate before operation in earth orbit becomes too risky and how much has the above action speed-ed this up?
It's given me material for another si-fi book or short story too, the rogue Nation launches twenty-five million BBs and ninety thousand one inch ball bearings on perpendicular geocentric orbits, a few of them at prospective space junk in an orbit that intersects low Earth and graveyard orbits.
The ball bearings eventually degrade into chunks of iron.
Gnarly, hey dude?
