The need for men will soon be gone. (The need for women will continue until an artificial womb can be developed

Everyone knows it takes a male and a female to make a baby. But what a new study from the Chinese Academy of Sciences suggests is that maybe it doesn’t. In a new study, the team of scientists reports they did the seemingly impossible: Produce healthy baby mice from two mothers. The researchers describe their achievement in a breakthrough new paper in Cell Stem Cell.

The single-sex parent phenomenon has been observed naturally in reptiles, fish, amphibians, and invertebrates, but it was never thought to be possible in mammals, who reproduce differently. But as the team describe in their paper, all it took was overcoming the genetic limitations that usually make same-sex parenting impossible. The team, which also included researchers from Northeast Agricultural University in Harbin, China, used a combination of stem cells and CRISPR precision gene editing to produce healthy mice from two mothers. Interestingly, they tried the same with embryos from two fathers, but those offspring only lived a few days.

Then you can live out your days as an function-less gimp like you always wanted. ;)

I predict that some time, WAY in the future, if we don’t kill ourselves off first, we won’t need either for procreation. We’ll just tell a computer what we want and it will “build” the appropriate genetic code for the child and bring it to term in an artificial womb. People who continue to procreate naturally will be viewed the way we view cult members today.

I agree

The next big tech breakthroughs will be in genetic modifications, and cybernetic enhancements. Investing in companies that create the first commercial aspects of either will be worth billions

Isn't this really every man's dream, though?

I don't think this will happen anytime soon. Don't get me wrong, this is a great news for LGBTQ community because finally they can conceive a child without the need for a man. However, hetero couples will still need each other to make a baby. Don't worry, you guys are still going to be needed. No need to panic yet.
