Powered roadways

Tesla was working on a variation of this some 80 years ago. Maybe we'll finally crack it?

If the speed on that section of roadway is 60 mph then it yields a whopping 1.2 minutes of additional recharge time. It seems that it would make more sense to install these recharge strips on roads with lower speed limits (and more EV commuter traffic) thus increasing the amount of (billable) recharge time.

On interstate highways it would make more sense to offer EV recharge parking pads at rest areas.

It's an interesting idea, but it seems like the maintenance required would doom it in many areas, both urban and rural.

Many areas in the U.S. can barely maintain the roads we have now, and we're going to add an electrical component?
