Lockheed Martin is developing a new nuclear fusion reactor like no other. The US defense contractor says that the reactor is no bigger than a shipping container, but could power 80,000 homes.

What once was the provenance comic books — a super-compact, high-powered fusion reactor — is now becoming a reality, and soon Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark could see their might matched by none other than Lockheed Martin. But instead of powering the Ironman suit or Gotham City, Lockheed's reactor is expected to make waves in the realm of everything from aircraft carriers to spacecraft.

The company's patent, discovered March 28, also contains a drawing of an F-16 jet, signalling Lockheed even sees an application for the reactor in fighter aircraft.

I will retrieve the referenced patent & post it here as it is a public document & is not subject to copyright laws. Here are the first 5 pages:

If it works it would be a game changer, no need to worry about solar or wind power.

Yea, I read an article that read, we are only about 30 years away from practical, usable, fusion energy. But then, we are always 30 years away.

Not anymore. Fusion energy on the local scale will soon have ongoing installations.

Here are the last 4 pages of the U.S. Patent Application recently published:

There are another 11 pages of text but I want to get the blessing of a Mod before I upload any more.

Do you have any other source besides Sputnik News?
I won't even CLICK ON it, sorry.

I just tend to not believe anything from Sputnik anymore than I would believe something from World Net Daily or InfoWars.

The 26 page U.S. Patent Application that I just posted the first 15 pages of. Do you trust your Government?

If you want to download the entire patent pdf here is the URL:

They are way too late on this...

I googled it. It looks like this might actually be legit. If true, this would be huuuuge! Seriously HUUUUUUGE! A real game changer for all humanity. Not to mention: you may want to buy some Lockheed Martin stocks... NOW.

Yes, I hope I can decipher it well enough.
I was just hoping that some other outlet had the story, I will go search for it.
Not a knock on you, I just always assume Sputnik is doing their job, filling our heads with bull**** from The Kremlin, that's all.

WOW, this I GOTTA SEE.
I wish my father was still alive.

If this is true, Lockheed-Martin may indeed become another "trillion dollar company", possibly the largest one.

From the same Sputnik article:

The US government is able to classify and remove from public view patents that they believe pose a national security threat. That they have not done that with Lockheed Martin's new reactor could mean that the system is still very immature in its development, according to The Drive. Nonetheless, the defense contractor's advanced projects arm, Skunk Works, has been working on the reactor since the company announced the project in 2014.

I don't think any reasonable person could blame the government in a case like that.

I think it is obvious that copies ALL U.S. patent applications like this one are routinely sent to adversary countries like Russia & China & that experts read & analyze them. They are then routed to distribution centers in major industries like pharma, electronics, medicine, military, etc. for further analysis & potential exploitation. The fact that this particular patent showed up in the Russian media is evidence of this practice.

Read and analyzed? Well, anything and everything to with nuclear fusion is being read and analyzed six ways to Sunday everywhere on the planet.
Who wouldn't want to be "FIRST!!" on something like this.
But if it's been patented, it's been patented, and when you're Lockheed-Martin, you can actually afford to hire some real actual patent attorneys who actually know what they're doing, for a change.

Charles Chase and his team at Lockheed have developed a high-beta configuration, which allows a compact reactor design and speedier development timeline.
The Lockheed Martin Compact Fusion Reactor (also known as a high-beta fusion reactor, or the 4th-generation prototype T4) is a project being developed by a team led by Charles Chase of Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works. The project was first presented at the Google Solve for X forum on February 7, 2013.[1]

The "high-beta" configuration allows a compact fusion reactor design and speedier development timeline. The plan was to "build and test a compact fusion reactor in less than a year with a prototype to follow within five years".[2] The prototype would be a 100-megawatt deuterium and tritium reactor measuring 7 by 10 feet (2.1 by 3.0 m) that could fit on the back of a large truck and would be about one tenth the size of current reactor prototypes.[3]

High beta implies that the ratio of plasma pressure to the magnetic pressure is 1 (or even higher), compared to tokamak designs that reach only 0.05.[

Theft of intellectual property (IP) by the Russians & the Chinese is a routine practice.

Yes it is, and yes it was, when we weren't already GIVING IT AWAY LOCK stock and both barrels, that is.
Do you know what rare earth metals are and the important role they play in computing, aerospace and about a dozen other fields? Ever hear of Magnaquench?

We didn't have the SLIGHTEST qualms about GIVING AWAY Magnaquench during the Bush administration.
Yes, the process started under Clinton's watch but I remember they ran up against some sticking points but by 2001, all those had been swept away and Magnaquench gave away our very last manufacturing ability in rare earth metals.

You cannot have missile defense of ANY KIND without rare earth metals.
The Chinese didn't steal our technology in rare earth metals. We gave it to them.

We have BEEN giving away the store for well over FORTY YEARS.

I doubt China and Russia care about US patents.

It was the name of a company started by GM in the 1980s to make neodymium-based permanent magnets. My degree is in chemistry & I worked for a big French chemical company that sold separated rare earths.

The Chinese also have a hold on most of the rare earth ores.

No. Especially the Chinese. But both countries view us as the enemy so all bets are off.

I doubt China and Russia care about US patents.

Both, to some extent, care about US markets, and EU markets, and markets elsewhere in the Western world.
Certainly China does.
