Monkeys cloned using same technique behind Dolly the sheep - CNN

Shanghai scientists created two genetically identical and adorable long-tailed macaques. The monkeys are named Hua Hua and Zhong Zhong, a version of the Chinese adjective Zhonghua which means the "Chinese nation" or "people."

Probably only a few years away before human clones.

A few dozen Jessica Alba's in the world would be a good thing

Clone me with no brain or "intelligence/awareness" center removed, to grow me some new organs for transplant. Of course, we'l have to fight the primitive god-types on ethics for decades.

Have they fixed the rapid aging effect yet?

So what do people think about this? Seems like a 50/50 split between "this is good" and "this is bad"

My buddy told me Russia is attempting to clone a Mammoth. Dunno where he got that info but, he was pretty stoked about the story.

I recall reading some articles to that general effect. Don't recall if it was Russia specifically though.

A cloned mammoth in a zoo would be really cool, almost as cool as bringing back dinosaurs. We could even make a move about it.

They want to repopulate the permafrost with Mammoths because Mammoths played an important role in that ecosystem, I guess.. that's the gist I got from it.

That would double the population. Then we have to find a way to take care of our "mini me". And how would mini me stay in shape? It can't just lean up in a barn every day. You'd have to start mini me when you are around 40 so the parts won't be "aged out" when you need them.

I'd keep mini me the same as me physically except with a DNA nip and a tuck here and there, but I'd give it a dog brain like a golden retriever. It would be a well exercised super athlete, so the parts would be good, plus we could lease our mini me out to Amazon to recoup it's care and feeding costs and Amazon would need so many robots. Mini me's work CHEAP! It's a win-win!

I could see in the future us growing our spare organs in our own bodies. We'd look funny but we'd get used to it except when we bump into people it would be like having an extra testicle on your back. "Ouch you bumped my heart!"

There is a future for us out there after all!

That sounds a bit more complex than just creating one for a zoo. It could have some unforeseen consequences.
