Total solar eclipse in August.

Yup...we're heading to Idaho...along with a hundred thousand other people. :sun

Are you planning to camp out, get a motel room or just make it a one day dash?
I've heard rooms are difficult to come by and extremely expensive.

I don't know where yet, but I think we're going to camp out. I've seen partial eclipses before...but I can't remember if I've seen a full eclipse.

That reminds me...I think there was supposed to be a 'strawberry moon" tonight.

If you'd seen a total solar eclipse, you'd remember it.

True. But now I can say definitely saw one....and check that off the bucket list. lol
Me too. Now I'm hooked (as most are when they see a total) and want to see as many as I can in the future.

I'm definitely going to go see 2024. I'd see more yet if I could, but given my middle age and the fact that I'm not rich, I may have to settle for just 2017 and 2024.

There's a cruise to see the July 2019 eclipse in the south Pacific, but it costs nearly ten grand just for a cramped room down in steerage.

Plus it would be a shame to spend all that time and money planning to see it in the Pacific and then have it be overcast or storming.

I'd like to see it again in 2024, too...but we'll see. Now that I've seen one...it's not really a priority at this time and no way would I spend ten grand just to see one again. lol

We were up in Idaho Falls...and it wasn't even crowded at all. It was kind of sad really because the local businesses spend a lot of money preparing for a surge of people that never came. The media really built it up that there would be throngs of people but the only throngs of people we saw was the 8 hour drive home of bumper to bumper traffic.

I'd hope the ship's crew would take note of weather and try to position the ship well for the eclipse. But anyone who can afford to go on this cruise is likely someone who can afford to travel to see lots of eclipses.

Luckily 2024 won't require an insanely expensive cruise ship.

For me, seeing this one only made me want to see future ones even more.
