I originally said protons generate magnetism, and electrons provide the electric side of things. these are particles.

Which doesnt address the rock vs magnet problem. Why does the rock have more gravity but no magnetic field

Because the magnet has a charge it exerts more magnetism. the rock has more mass and a magnetic field.

Have you ever watched leaves on a lake - they gravitate towards each other.
