Boston Dynamics' Humanoid Atlas Robot Now Roams Free

Boston Dynamics, a company bought up by Google not too long ago, has released a video of the newest iteration of its Atlas humanoid robot, which is now able to roam freely without a long power cable trailing behind it:



Since the Atlas program is only a couple of years old now, how long before this machine can outperform an Olympic decathlete?
 
Pretty sweet actually. Notice the bar codes on everything, essentially giving the appearance of independent intelligence, NOT to be confused with AI. Of course it isn't intelligent in that sense, but still pretty cool, especially the very difficult stabilizing tech.. In 50 years these things will look like us..

However long it takes to develop battery technology that can handle it.
