U.S. President Donald Trump has said he would like to see rivals Russia and Ukraine mend ties in their ongoing geopolitical feud, which includes accusations by Kyiv that Moscow is fomenting a separatist conflict in eastern Ukraine by leading, supplying, and fighting alongside proxy forces.

Rivals? Geopolitical feud? Accusations? Does Trump have even one brain cell still warm?

“Well, I'd like to see them come together. I think if they came together in the sense that they got along with each other, that would be a great thing,” he told reporters on February 23 before departing on Marine Force One for his maiden voyage to India.

A reporter had asked Trump to comment on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent accusations that other countries are trying split neighbors Russia and Ukraine apart, saying the two predominantly Slavic and Orthodox Christian countries would be a world superpower if they came together.

In response, Trump added that “it would be a great thing for the world…. If Ukraine and Russia could work out some agreement where they get along, to me that would be very good.”

From the article.

It would be great if they got along. Though it would require Russia to cease its hostilities and give back what it stole. But it would be great if they did.

Ukrainian railway (Ukrzaliznytsia) named the most profitable destinations.
The first place was taken by the Kiev - Moscow route. The second Is Krivoy Rog - Moscow. Honorary third place - Odessa - Moscow.

It was the sixth year that Ukraine was at war with Russia, Yes...

Indeed. Now convince Putin of that.

It’s always noteworthy when seemingly less hawkish pundits celebrate the killing of Russians—whether Donbass civilians or Russians involved in stabilizing the Syrian state—in the open and with such glee. This thirst for blood is the true face of “humanitarian interventionists.”

I have no sympathy for any Russkie kontrakniki that gets wasted. They accepted that possibility when they signed up.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Russia works tirelessly to corrupt and control Ukraine.
Russia engineers with Paul Manafor'ts help, a pro-Russian mobster to take power in Ukraine.
Corruption goes into overdrive, but the people eventually run Victor out, and he flees to Russia. They find the black ledger in his sprawling estate, paid for by Ukrainians he cheated of course.
Russia is pissed, and they actually invade Ukraine and take Crimea by force, militarily.
The world condemns Russia.

Trump gets on the world scene, praises Russia, invites them over immediately, says U.S. intelligence is wrong, Russia is right, (and a long list of things we all know and love)
Trump joins in the corruption of Ukraine and tries some good old fashioned quid pro quo for military aid too.

Trump remarks "it would be a great thing for the world…. If Ukraine and Russia could work out some agreement where they get along, to me that would be very good.”"]

Working hand in hand with Putin on Putin's agenda. What's news here? Same old. His supporters love the corruption and Russian bidding. In fact, if you mention Russia, they plug their ears. It's just how they roll.

Alexander Koval, Director of the Ukrainian book Institute, called for removing all books published in the USSR from Ukrainian libraries and replacing them with "modern Ukrainian-language books".
Great idea. But what about library buildings? Demolish them and build new, Ukrainian-speaking ones?

Moscow’s State Library for Ukrainian literature was forced to close because it carries books on its shelves in the Ukrainian language -- March, 2017.

Disappearing books: How Russia is shuttering its Ukrainian library

Russian Librarian Found Guilty For Keeping Ukrainian Books

Moscow moves to close Ukrainian institutions in Russia

"The Moscow city spokeswoman said “there was no political element” in what was happening to the library.
“There is no intention to ‘destroy’ or ‘kill something off,” she said in emailed comments. “On the contrary, by transferring the books ... we are not only preserving the Library of Ukrainian Literature’s books, but also believe it will facilitate the popularization of the Ukrainian literary legacy.”

This was at the end of an article called " Disappearing books: how Russia is shuttering its Ukrainian library". Of course, few people read the articles, just the title

Yeah. No political element. Right.

:rofl
Of course, Moscow is shaking with fear because of the presence of the Ukrainian library... You have megalomania in Ukraine, along with an inferiority complex...

They didnt steal anything. Crimea voted to go back to Russia after the Ukrainians illegally overthrew their president.

The Kremlin was terrified of a Ukrainian library. Typical Russian ******s.

Voted to go back to Russia in a referendum that most of the world has condemned as illegal. Apparently Russian troops were in Crimea at the time.

Trump does not allow Ukraine to use those weapons on Russia, and the last I checked, Russians were taking over an abandoned US military base in Syria.

You are mistaken, there are no american bases in Syria and there could not be. You see, Syria is an independent state, a member of the United Nations, and, as far as I know, Syria has not invited American armed forces to its territory. In other words, you want to say, speaking about American bases in Syria, that the United States has committed an act of aggression?

Y'all really love Russia these days.

On 22–23 February 2014, Russian president Vladimir Putin convened an all-night meeting with security service chiefs to discuss the extrication of the deposed Ukrainian president, Viktor Yanukovych. At the end of the meeting Putin remarked that "we must start working on returning Crimea to Russia".[4] On 23 February, pro-Russian demonstrations were held in the Crimean city of Sevastopol. On 27 February, masked Russian troops without insignia[7] took over the Supreme Council (parliament) of Crimea,[41][42] and captured strategic sites across Crimea, which led to the installation of the pro-Russian Aksyonov government in Crimea, the conducting of the Crimean status referendum and the declaration of Crimea's independence on 16 March 2014.[43][44] Russia formally incorporated Crimea as two federal subjects of the Russian Federation with effect from 18 March 2014.[45]

Ukraine and many world leaders condemned the annexation and consider it to be a violation of international law and Russian-signed agreements safeguarding the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including the Belavezha Accords establishing the Commonwealth of Independent States in 1991, the Helsinki Accords, the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances of 1994 and the Treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.[46][47] It led to the other members of the then G8 suspending Russia from the group,[48] then introducing the first round of sanctions against the country. The United Nations General Assembly also rejected the vote and annexation, adopting a resolution affirming the "territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders".[49][50] The UN resolution also "underscores that the referendum having no validity, cannot form the basis for any alteration of the status of [Crimea]" and calls upon all States and international organizations not to recognize or to imply the recognition of Russia's annexation.[50] In 2016, UN General Assembly reaffirmed non-recognition of the annexation and condemned "the temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine—the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol".[51][52]

I mean, a vote at the end of a gun and compromised government doesn't seem so legit, and world governments have condemned the annexation as well.

So if Ukraine and Russia are to reconcile, Russia would have to stop being a super dick and also give back what it stole.

Just clearing up some PoS Kremlin disinformation ... Viktor Yanukovych was removed from office by his own 'Party of Regions' majority Verkhovna Rada (parliament) .

On 22 February 2014, the Ukrainian parliament voted to remove him from his post on the grounds that he was unable to fulfill his duties.[16] The vote came an hour after Yanukovych said in a televised address that he would not resign. Parliament then set 25 May 2014 as the date for the special election to select his replacement,[16][17][18][19] and two days later issued a warrant for his arrest, accusing him of "mass killing of civilians."[20]

The televised address by Yanukovych came from the eastern city of Kharkiv. Yanukovych stopped there during his escape to Moscow assisted by Russian security agents.

The Parliament vote total to remove Viktor Yanukovych was 328 Yes / 0 No.

Clearing up yet more PoS disinformation about the 'Crimea referendum' orchestrated by the Kremlin ....

• Article 73 of the Ukraine Constitution stipulates that any status change in Ukrainian territory must be approved by a nationwide referendum.

• Crimea belongs to 100% of the Ukrainian people, not just the 4% that currently inhabit it.

• The Russian referendum was arranged on only 10 days notice and did not offer voters the status quo — only secession or absorption by Russia.

• It is illegal for a military occupation regime to conduct a referendum in the territory it occupies - Geneva Conventions on War.

• The UN does not recognize such illegal referendums and illegal annexations.....

General Assembly Adopts Resolution Calling upon States Not to Recognize Changes in Status of Crimea Region

Backing Ukraine’s territorial integrity, UN Assembly declares Crimea referendum invalid

It wasnt a vote at the end of a gun, Ukrainian nationalists boycotted it, so naturally the pro-Russia faction won. And Crimea has got more ethnic Russians than Ukrainians so there's your answer.

It isn't a scandal when Trump refuses to denounce and even cozies up to murderous dictators all over the globe. But when Sanders does it once 30 years ago, it's a scandal.

I wonder if Trump refused to denounce Russian aggression and signal strong support for Ukraine because he didn't realize he was supposed to. Or is he deliberately signaling a lack of concern for Russian aggression? Either way, Russia is getting what they paid for out of Trump.
