Russia's only aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov, caught fire on Thursday during maintenance work in Russia's Arctic port in Murmansk, with eight people reportedly hospitalized, Russian news agencies reported. One source told the state-run TASS news agency that the fire had started on the upper deck and that thick, black smoke was billowing from the vessel. Eight people have been hospitalized due to the fire and up to three of them are in serious condition, Interfax cited an unnamed source with knowledge of the incident as saying Thursday afternoon. Ten people have been injured overall. A source in the emergency services told TASS that firefighters were finding it difficult to reach the blaze because of the heavy smoke caused by burning cables. The Admiral Kuznetsov has had a troubled history since it was built and launched by the Soviet Union in 1985. It has been undergoing repairs at a shipyard near Murmansk following combat operations in Syria, where it was blighted by problems and lost two aircraft due to malfunctions with the carrier's arresting gear. The additional repairs were not expected to affect the Admiral Kuznetsov’s return into service in 2022, Russia’s state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) said two days before the fire erupted. It was not immediately clear when or whether the ill-fated aircraft carrier would return to the Russian Navy.

Russia can build really nice fighter jets, but cannot build a working aircraft carrier to ferry them.

I have no cable subscription and do not pay attention to CNN and have not since 2009. Try again to show us how the brave Trump has been such a badass..He certainly likes to play hit and run with insults even on kids yet adults he has a hard time standing up to.

You must read far left newspapers then. If you have no cagle, you missed tough guy Biden threatening an 84 year old man when he asked a question Biden didn't like. How can that clown be president if he chooses and old guy off for a question he is not used to when his adoring press crowd isn't around?

To the topic: I don't think this 'proves' Russia isn't a threat, but it certainly does prove it isn't as big of a threat as the MSNBC Democrats caterwaul about it being.

I will educate you since it appears you are ready for informaion you can't get on MSM.

The United States spends 649 BILLION on defense versus Russia's roughly 100 billion. Russia has a little over a million active duty soldiers and America has 1.3 million.

Russia's GDP is 1.5 trillion and the U.S. is 19.4 trillion.
