On 13 November 2019, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Turnover of Agricultural Land".

The main provisions of the bill are as follows:

The moratorium on the sale of agricultural land is lifted on October 1, 2020;

Only Ukrainians or Ukrainian companies can buy land;

Until January 1, 2024, foreign-owned companies are prohibited from buying agricultural land in Ukraine;

Limitations are set on the total area of land plots that can be purchased by an individual or a legal entity: one person or company cannot buy more than 35% of the agricultural land of a united community, 15% of the agricultural land of the region or 0.5% of the agricultural land of Ukraine.

There are dozens of loopholes which allow practically any foreigner purchase any amount of land in Ukraine.Practically the entirely Ukraine will be sold to big foreign 'investors' within few years.

I've posted on this numerous times here in this forum.

The law prohibits foreigners and foreign corporations from buying Ukrainian land only for the 1st year. After that the land sales are open to anyone.

This is to prevent foreign corporations such as Archer-Daniels Midland and Cargill from buying millions of hectares of land and squeezing out family farms.

Another point the Russian OP author neglects to mention, this bill has only passed 1 reading. It needs to pass 3 readings to become law.

So, instead of Greenland, Trump can simply buy the Ukraine. We'll make it into our 51st. state, the first one owned by a plutocrat.

The proposed 'law' has many loopholes for foreign 'investor' companies.
