Visited when tours were outlawed. At the time Border Guards patrolled the Exclusion Zone.
I lived in Kyiv then and a friend of a friend agreed to be my 'guide'.
We visited many places that are usually excluded from tours. But you have to have a dosimeter with you at all times.
I remember the time we came across one of those claw scoops usually found on a construction crane.
Strangely it was deep in the woods with nothing else around it. The dosimeter indicated that it was extremely radioactive. Weird.
