In a context of the Ukrainian elections, the situation developing with measles can be called catastrophic. However, the authorities of the country are not concerned about this problem, which has already left abroad the country.
Recently, there were 15,000 measles cases in Ukraine; today, according to UNICEF, only in two months there were already 24,042 such cases.
Last year, there were 35,120 cases of diseases.

In the last week 2,250 people got sick, half of them were children. Most of all new cases were recorded in Ternopil, Kiev, Kharkov and Khmelnitsky regions. However, in the Lviv region the number of patients decreased.
The upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine will also contribute to the further development of the epidemic. Places of mass gathering of people always contribute to the spread of infections.
The European Union should think about the fact that it's time raise an issue of restricting the entry of citizens from Ukraine into its territory, including children without documentary evidence of measles immunization.
In New York, measles is already raging: compulsory vaccination has already been announced in the city. In America, local media write that the disease was brought to the United States from Ukraine.

So the publication of The New York Times states that the Hasidim, who had been in Ukrainian Uman, imported measles.
This is explained by the fact that many Hasidim, like Ukrainian Baptists, are opponents of vaccination.

Re: The epidemic of measles from Ukraine spreads across Europe

There are measles epidemics every year in all parts of the world. Without endorsing one side or the other, I encourage people to ask: why are media outlets in virtually every developed nation suddenly talking about epidemics and vaccine rates? The discussion has reached 24/7 coverage in some places.

For the answer to this, you have to look at the UN mandates on vaccinations. The first deadline is 2020.

They are trying to manufacture consent so that they can introduce sweeping vaccine legislation across sovereign nations.

The actual infection rate has not changed much in the past 10-20 years.

This has more to do with pushing laws that reduce medical autonomy than anything else, and that is something we should all be concerned about in free nations.

Yeah, the scientific illiteracy of the people who see themselves as being in the vanguard of science is just shocking. I've seen people spread memes about anti-vaxx kids getting malaria or the plague; it's clear that these people view vaccines in much the same way that a Pacific cargo cultist views airplanes: something magical, a potion that banished all diseases, and once they are gone the diseases will just come back. A simple google search would have revealed that there is no vaccine for malaria, and no safe, marketed vaccine for the plague. Both of these diseases are not on US vaccine schedules, but people are just unthinkingly forwarding these memes in self-reinforcing information bubbles, convincing themselves that they are the final bulwark of reason. It's nuts. The same goes for measles, which people are just getting hysterical about when the flu kills massively more people every year; measles has a very small mortality rate.

Also, there is no evidence whatsoever that Hasidic Jews have bad vaccination rates compared to the general population; there is no Jewish law against Vaccination, and rabbis don't teach against them. There are certain to be anti-vaxxers among Jewish people, as there are among all people, but it's not disproportionately higher. We're getting into literal 'throw the Jew down the well' territory here. It's a textbook moral panic being exploited by some of the most evil corporations on the planet.

Re: The epidemic of measles from Ukraine spreads across Europe

How many of these cases can be traced to illegal immigrants?

Re: The epidemic of measles from Ukraine spreads across Europe

The irony is that measles is transmitted by the vaccinated.

Measles Is Transmitted By The Vaccinated, Gov. Researchers Confirm

Research reveals that a vaccinated individual not only can become infected with measles (by the vaccine), but can also spread it to others who are also vaccinated against it - doubly disproving that the administration of multiple doses of MMR vaccine is "97% effective," as widely claimed.

MMR Vaccinated Can Still Spread Measles !

I advise everybody to read this article before before parroting everything that is told on the mainstream media.

Me, my family and all their children have had measles. It was a normal child disease. When a child has a measles infevection, “measles parties” were kept at their house for healthy children to be able to catch it, so they would have a lifelong immunity for the virus.
It has always been like that, until Big Pharma got greedy.

Of course, every illness can be worsened by complications and in the worst scenario a child can die. But that child would probably have died from a flu infection as well, because of an other underlying health problem.

GreenMedInfo.com?

Vaccinations are never 100% guaranteed to be effective. But they sure as Hell are more effective than the absence of vaccinations.

According to this (dubious) article, as many as 18% of measles cases are transmitted by the vaccinated. That means as few as 88% of measles cases are transmitted by the unvaccinated. If measles kills a child with underlying health complications, it stands to reason that they might not have died had they not gotten the measles. By refusing to vaccinate our children, we are knowingly allowing some children to die of a preventable disease. Underlying health complications do not make those children any less precious to the people who love them.

Did you read the article as well?

The best thing is to get the measles virus as a child and be immune 100% for the rest of your life.

The best thing is for parents to get their kids vaccinated. Anti-vaxxers be damned.

Why should Jane run when she’s vaccinated? Don’t vaccines work?
Something to think about perhaps?

Something to think about. People who don't get measles are 100% immune to measles related complications.

Something to think about. People who don't get measles are 100% immune to measles related complications.

That’s simple.

A vaccinated individual not only can become infected with measles (by the vaccine), but can also spread it to others who are also vaccinated against it.
There’s your 100%.

What do you figure the infection rate is for vaccinated vs. unvaccinated?

bovine manure.

Sayer Ji is another one of these conspiracy nuts and a flipping liar as well. He utterly misrepresented (findings of) the study he quotes, as Ulrich von Andrian (co-author of the actually original study) has long since cleared up.

By in no way confirming the ineffectiveness of vaccinations that you (and your tin-foil hat source) imply.

Follow your own demand upon others to read the thing in the original and if you can then still uphold your silly claim (rather than remain silent as you should have from the getgo), you'll show yourself deserving of the disdain that your claim gets you.

What next, flat-earthing?

Believe what makes you feel good, secure and safe. I won’t blame anybody for doing so.

For the ones that dare to read it : for the ones with an open mind.

“Benefits of Contracting Measles”, by Viera Scheibner, Ph.D.

Well-managed natural infectious diseases are beneficial for children.

When infectious diseases of childhood are not mismanaged by the administration of antibiotics, or by suppressing fever, the diseases prime and mature the immune system and also represent developmental milestones.

Having measles not only results in life-long specific immunity to measles, but also in life-long non-specific immunity to degenerative diseases of bone and cartilage, sebaceous skin diseases, immunoreactive diseases and certain tumours as demonstrated by Ronne (1985).

Having mumps protects against ovarian cancer (West 1969).

This is the area that should be researched and the results heeded instead of trying the impossible: to eradicate infectious diseases.

Why don't you take your anti-vaxxer arguments to the General Discussion or the Off-Topic Discussion forum?

It doesn't really belong here in the Europe Forum.

It isn't a question of belief, it's a matter of knowing and substituting knowledge by superstitious rubbish.

That's the main difference between you and I.

But like you I won't blame anyone for believing whatever. Just that it doesn't preclude me from refuting that which deserves derision, all of it being what this debate forum is about.

Noticeable however how you do not address the proven misrepresentation that your source committed and if your idea of debate is that we should merely be exchanging beliefs, could be that this is not the right forum for you altogether.

IOW if you have nothing of substance, don't pretend that you do.

She's as much an idiot unqualified in scientific approach as your previous source.

But why indeed not take up the advice offered previously (as in):

..........and stop cluttering up this particular sub-forum with matters totally unrelated to it.

Nice try, LOL
But I yield, as I agree I’m in the wrong forum.
You have the floor, sir.

Re: The epidemic of measles from Ukraine spreads across Europe

The whole pro-vax vs. anti-vax battle is manufactured by the media and is a bait and switch. Wake up already, people. They are trying to manufacture global consent for mandatory vaccination laws so that government can start pushing drugs on the public "for their own good".

It's no secret that the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program was created in the U.S. in the 80's in response to the pharmaceutical industry suffering so many lawsuits due to vaccine injury that they were about to decide to stop creating new vaccines. The court now prevents them from being sued directly, and all settled cases are paid out with tax dollars. Since then, the vaccine schedule for children under 5 has skyrocketed to over 40 vaccines, many of them whose side effect profiles are dubiously studied.

The media hype lately is about manufacturing consent. Seriously, wake up and stop fighting among yourselves. Look at the power grab that's about to happen. This affects ALL of us.

Re: The epidemic of measles from Ukraine spreads across Europe

Due to the ongoing conflict with Russia, the government failed to order measles vaccine until late 2015. Because of shortages, Ukraine vaccinated only 42% of its infants in 2016, when 31% of 6-year-olds received the recommended second measles shot, which was the lowest rate in the world comparable to sub-Saharan African countries. If you have a high rate of unvaccinated children, you will face this kind of outbreak. Tens of thousands were infected in a measles outbreak in Madagascar in East Africa, killing almost 1,000 children.
