Miraculously Cured of Hepatitis C

Only, I had contracted jaundice (a yellowing of the skin) which is a symptom of Hep C. In fact, at the time, a person came up to me and asked me if I had Hep C on account of the jaundice. I seriously doubt that it was a false positive.

Don't let anybody get you down. You will always have people who simply cannot believe in the power of prayer, or healing by faith.

I certainly do. I've seen it happen, and no one will ever change my mind on it.

Sure, it is a symptom but most people with jaundice don’t have Hep C. As many as 40% of positive results of Hep C are false.

Or God did it. Either, or.

;) Seriously, though, I am happy you are healthy.

A small cohort of people who contract Hep C spontaneously clear the virus and have antibodies for life. It happens to about 10-15% of patients, usually in the first 6-9 months of infection. I know this because it happened to me in 1994 when I received a contaminated blood transfusion. I had all the symptoms of acute onset and then two months later my PCR tests came up negative. My local university invited me to partake in a research project by analyzing my blood.

I'm not saying Jesus didn't heal you, just that you're not the only one to get over Hep C. There are also very effective treatments for it now.

I initially tested positive for Hep C. And now all my tests come back negative to ever even having it. I have no Hep C antibodies in my blood. This is a very good point. It was none other than a miracle.

Ah, a modern miracle unexplained by science, and unstudied by scientists. Given that this allegedly happened, you should be under a microscope by modern scientists, yet you are not. Can you point us to any study based on your experience which would at least show us that medical professionals are aware of your case?

Allah be praised! Vishnu has healed you by the grace of Buddha!

How can you prove that Visbek didn't make him get sick?
lol

That is actually much easier than second-guessing a supernatural being.

If we really wanted to prove it, we'd have someone investigate my life and actions. In doing so, they'd find that I have never had Hep C; that I don't have access to any means to give Hep C to anyone; it's highly likely that ionu and I have never crossed paths, and could be hundreds (or thousands) of miles apart at all times; that I have never hired anyone to give Hep C to a totally random person. Oh, and they will almost certainly find that prior to this thread, I've never communicated with ionu.

In contrast, there is no way to prove or disprove that a deity made ionu sick or well.

In other words:
"Visbek made ionu sick" is falsifiable.
"God made ionu sick" is unfalsifiable.
"Jesus healed ionu" is unfalsifiable.

Much obliged for the considered reply, Visbek.
The "lol" would have been enough, and in keeping with the spirit of my post.
The forensic inquiry you describe would falsify my post to a moral certainty. There would never be absolute falsification, yes?
But of course your point is that only falsifiable propositions have scientific value.
As I pondered my reply to your generous post, a question occurred to me:
Is the falsifiability rule falsifiable?
Is the proposition "Only falsifiable propositions have scientific value" itself falsifiable?

It wasn't God that afflicted me. It was His Son that cured me.

No, god allowed you to get it. Although I highly doubt that you ever had it in the first place.

How can you prove that God didn't make you get sick?

How can you prove that He did? At the time, I was incarcerated in County Jail where Hep C exposure would be at a high. This in itself indicates that it was not God, but the system in which I was exposed to.

I understand that what you say is true. Only, I do not have Hep C antibodies in my blood, yet I am fully cured. I believe that what happen to me was from the Son of God...a real miracle...from Jesus.

Great, let's see your god grow an amputated limb back.

This is something that happened many years ago. I no longer have my test results, although I could acquire them. I do know that I am healed without any indication of my ever having Hep C. My blood work shows no Hep C antibodies either. It's not worth all the time and trouble for me to do as you wish. You can either believe my story or not. It makes no difference to me. I'm not seeking attention.

The usual deflection. How come all these people have miracle healing stories, but no actual proof?

Sometimes, you just have to have a little faith in your fellow man.

A positive test, including symptoms, generally indicate a person having the disease. Their is no doubt in my mind.

Are you trying to assert that you once had Hep C antibodies detected in your blood and now do not? You keep dancing around that critical point of your "miracle" claim.

A question often asked after clearance of the virus, also known as achieving an SVR (sustained viral response) is “What happens to the antibodies”? Unfortunately the antibody is with the patient for life. It does NOT go away. The viral load becomes undetected. The virus is gone and the patient is cured! But, he still carries the antibody. A study done in 2009 and published in Liver International, called Sustained Virological Response is Associated With Clearance of Hepatitis C Virus RNAS and a Decrease in Hepatitis C Virus Antibody, shows that the antibodies directed at NS 3,4 & 5, are markedly decreased but the core protein titer remained high. This just means that the antibody test given after SVR will be less strong, but it will still be found in the blood of patients who were ever positive for hepatitis C virus.
