There are many verses of scripture that I love. I love these verses and I use them to constantly remind me of what is meaningful. Any comments on these verses? What are some of your favorites?

Ecclesiastes 1:1-11

1
The words of the Teacher,[SUP][a][/SUP] son of David, king in Jerusalem:
[SUP]2 [/SUP]“Meaningless! Meaningless!”
says the Teacher.
“Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless.”

[SUP]3
[/SUP]What do people gain from all their labors
at which they toil under the sun?
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Generations come and generations go,
but the earth remains forever.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]The sun rises and the sun sets,
and hurries back to where it rises.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]The wind blows to the south
and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
ever returning on its course.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
there they return again.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]All things are wearisome,
more than one can say.
The eye never has enough of seeing,
nor the ear its fill of hearing.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]Is there anything of which one can say,
“Look! This is something new”?
It was here already, long ago;
it was here before our time.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]No one remembers the former generations,
and even those yet to come
will not be remembered
by those who follow them.

My favorite ?

" The dealer is watching the player.
The box man is watching the dealer.
The pit boss is watching the box man.
The shift boss is watching the pit boss.
The casino manager is watching the shift boss
I'm watching the casino manager.
The eye in the sky(God) is watching us all."

I must have missed those verses. Not sure how that could have happened.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it. - John 1:1-5

I like Phil.4:6-9...

"Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things. The things that you learned as well as accepted and heard and saw in connection with me, practice these, and the God of peace will be with you."

Proverbs 31:

6 Let beer be for those who are perishing,
wine for those who are in anguish!
7 Let them drink and forget their poverty
and remember their misery no more.

1 Corinthians 13

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

John 11

35 Jesus wept.

Matthew 7

1You shall not judge, lest you be judged. 2For with the judgment that you judge, you will be judged, and with the measure that you measure, it will be measured to you. 3Why do you notice a chip that is in your brother's eye, and you do not observe the plank that is in your own eye?

He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt. (Deuteronomy 10:18-19)

When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. (Leviticus 19:33-34)

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels but do not have love, I have become a clanging gong or a clashing cymbal. And if I have the gift of prophecy and understand all the sacred secrets and all knowledge, and if I have all the faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my belongings to feed others, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I do not benefit at all." 1 Cor. 13:1-3

"14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,[f] 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”[g]

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God." - John 3:14-21

Excellent...so is verse 36 of that same chapter...it shows we have to act on our belief in order to receive life...

The one who exercises faith in the Son has everlasting life; the one who disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him.

"I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth." - Job 19:25

Since I previously started a thread on this one, I will post it again here:

36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”

37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.

Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

There are MANY wonderful verses in scripture, and it would take up too much space for me to list them all, but here are a few of my favorites, in addition to the OP already listing one of my favorites:

{Matthew 5:13} Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. {5:14} Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. {5:15} Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. {5:16} Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

{Matthew 6:24} No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. {6:25} Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? {6:26} Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? {6:27} Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? {6:28} And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: {6:29} And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. {6:30} Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O ye of little faith? {6:31} Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? {6:32} (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. {6:33} But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. {6:34} Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.

I also pay close attention to the four "trees of life" mentioned in Proverbs, and find it a neat fact that the phrase "tree of life" is only mentioned in Genesis, Proverbs, and Revelation, with Proverbs referencing things which are "a" tree of life, and the other two books referencing "the" tree of life...

{Proverbs 3:13} Happy [is] the man [that] findeth wisdom, and the man [that] getteth understanding. {3:14} For the merchandise of it [is] better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. {3:15} She [is] more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. {3:16} Length of days [is] in her right hand; [and] in her left hand riches and honour. {3:17} Her ways [are] ways of pleasantness, and all her paths [are] peace. {3:18} She [is] a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy [is every one] that retaineth her. {3:19} The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. {3:20} By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

{Proverbs 11:30} The fruit of the righteous [is] a tree of life; and he that winneth souls [is] wise. {11:31} Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

{Proverbs 13:12} Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but [when] the desire cometh, [it is] a tree of life.

{Proverbs 15:4} A wholesome tongue [is] a tree of life: but perverseness therein [is] a breach in the spirit.

Our Victory Song

1 Corinthians 15:54-55.

“Death is swallowed up in victory.”

“O Death, where is your sting?

O Hades, where is your victory?”

Wow! I love these. Thanks, gfm7175.

Mathew 22:37-40. Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

This is one of my favorites!

"18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him." - Matthew 4:18-20

One from Psalm I find great comfort in because it has proven true for me time and time again...

"Throw your burden on Jehovah,
And he will sustain you.
Never will he allow the righteous one to fall." Psalm 55:22

Wow! I love these. Thanks, gfm7175.
Those particular verses are ones which, after re-reading, can lift me up whenever I feel this world, and it's acceptance of evil, weigh down on me... These are some other verses which also help keep my focus on the narrow path...

{Psalm 23:1} The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want. {23:2} He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. {23:3} He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. {23:4} Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou [art] with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. {23:5} Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. {23:6} Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

I'd quote all of 1 John if I had the space, but I will quote a portion of it...

{1 John 4:1} Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. {4:2} Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: {4:3} And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. {4:4} Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. {4:5} They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. {4:6} We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

I won't quote it, but ALL of Revelation 2-3 (the letters to the Seven Churches) because they give important compliments and critiques, which are very applicable to us Christians today, and until Jesus comes for his Bride... Also Revelation 19-22, explaining what it will be like when Jesus Christ returns with his Bride.

{Romans 1:18} For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; {1:19} Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them. {1:20} For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: {1:21} Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. {1:22} Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, {1:23} And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. {1:24} Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: {1:25} Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. {1:26} For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: {1:27} And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. {1:28} And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; {1:29} Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, {1:30} Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, {1:31} Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: {1:32} Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

As a final note, I will recommend a website which I stumbled across a while ago which has general information as well as regular (usually weekly) blog posts from the guy who runs it. It has good information about the end times and the Christian faith in general

When I feel discouraged because of the times we live in, I like to keep these words in mind...

"Happy is the man who does not walk according to the advice of the wicked
And does not stand on the path of sinners
And does not sit in the seat of scoffers." Psalm 1:1

"As for you, beloved ones, call to mind the sayings that have been previously spoken by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, how they used to say to you: “In the last time there will be ridiculers, following their own desires for ungodly things.” Jude 17,18

"First of all know this, that in the last days ridiculers will come with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep in death, all things are continuing exactly as they were from creation’s beginning.” 2 Peter 3:3,4

Revelation 20:4

4 I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and the authority to judge was given to them.
And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness of Jesus and for the word of God.
They had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands.

They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

The first word that comes to my mind is, "WOW!" Thanks you for these.

10
Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the Lord makes[c] his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.

11
After he has suffered,
he will see the light of life[d] and be satisfied[e];
by his knowledge[f] my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.

12
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,[g]
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,[h]
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.
- Isaiah 53:10-12

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
- Romans 10:9-10

Paul's advice to Timothy is very wise...I think we could all apply it in our lives, especially in light of the times we live in...

"Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, turning away from the empty speeches that violate what is holy and from the contradictions of the falsely called “knowledge.” By making a show of such knowledge, some have deviated from the faith." 1 Timothy 6:20
