All of the times that Jesus had a logical discussion with the Pharisees.
"Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have Or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Beʹli·al? Or what does a believer share in common with an unbeliever? And what agreement does God’s temple have with idols?" 2 Cor. 6:14-16
Sounds like I should not be conversing with non-believers. Hmmm. Maybe... well... maybe.
“You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you," Matt. 5:43,44

Considering how Jesus conversed with non-believers, I don't think that is what Paul meant by his advice...it had more to do with when choosing them as your close friends...your thinking, faith, and conduct will be affected...that is what we have to be careful to avoid..."bad associations spoil useful habits"...1 Cor. 15:33...
I was watching C-SPAN yesterday and there was a black gentleman talking. He said that if you run around with 9 poor people, you will become poor. If you run around with 9 non-believers, you will become a non-believer. I know that last one from my own experiences.
