Ask a Jehovah's Witness - Elvira [W:58, 200]

Re: Ask a Jehovah's Witness - Elvira

Do Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only JWs will be in Heaven and on Earth at the end? What happens after the 1,000 year reign?

No, of course not...after the destruction of his ungodly system, Satan will be abyssed for 1,000 years...Revelation 20:1-3...at the end of Jesus’ Thousand Year Reign, Satan will be “released from his prison” for a short time to make a final attempt to mislead perfect mankind...after that, the Devil will be destroyed...Revelation 20:7-10...finally, Jesus will hand the Kingdom back to his Father...1 Corinthians 15:24-26...

Do Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only JWs will be in Heaven and on Earth at the end? What happens after the 1,000 year reign?

yes they do.

The 1000 year reign is a short period of time in which Satan is locked away and a great peace reigns over the earth. after which he is let loose for a season in which he will
use the anti-Christ to gather his followers for the battle of Armageddon. in which his forces will fight against Christ and his angels. this passage comely refers to tel meggido
which is 30 km south east of Haifa. this place has a significant in historical context not only in political but in religious as well.

it is after this battle that satan and his army is destroyed and then comes the white thrown judgement where those that are not written in the lambs book of life are thrown into
the lake of fire. now here is where it gets trickey. JW's claim that they are the only ones that are going, however Christ claimed the opposite that all that accept him and believe
and grow to have a personal relationship with him will be saved.

The point that counters the JW theory that they are the only ones is the thief on the cross along with all the disciples. Revelations already reveals all the saints that have already gone
and are around the throne.

Re: Ask a Jehovah's Witness - Elvira

Uhh no. the Watchtower Society is a bona fide cult. It is in no way just another denomination for this key reason: They deny that Christ Himself is God Almighty-Second person of the Trinity. A good expose on the Watchtower Society is a book written by two former witnesses who left. Len and Margorie Cretien-Witnesses of Jehovah which exposes the history and fallacies of the Watchtower cult.

Christianity is a cult, so why would anyone assume any of its various branches are anything but.

Interesting. And after all of that, some will still be in Heaven and some still on Earth?

actually it isn't a cult and to say so shows a bit of ignorance on the subject.

In the Bible, the phrase “those who were sealed” refers to a group of individuals who are chosen from among mankind to rule with Christ in heaven over the coming Paradise earth...2 Corinthians 1:21, 22; Revelation 5:9, 10; 20:6...

The meek will possess the earth...Psalm 37:9-11,29; Matthew 5:5...they are called the great crowd...John 10:16; Revelation 7:9...

That is what the Bible says...God's kingdom promises to bring animals and humans in harmony with one another...I think it could also apply to human personalities, once they accept Christ and" put on the new personality"...peoples of all sorts will live together in peace and will love one another...

It begs the question though. What will we eat? Will we/they still procreate?

Well God said “Here I have given to you all vegetation bearing seed which is on the surface of the whole earth and every tree on which there is the fruit of a tree bearing seed. To you let it serve as food.”...He went on to state that to all the animal creation he had given “all green vegetation for food.”...to Adam he also said “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction,” adding a prohibition on one tree, the tree of the knowledge of good and bad....Genesis 1:29, 30; 2:16, 17...from that time until the Flood, the Bible gives no indication that man included the flesh of animals in his diet...

It wasn't until after the flood, God allowed man to add flesh to his diet, saying “Every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for you. As in the case of green vegetation, I do give it all to you. Only flesh with its soul—its blood—you must not eat.”—Genesis 9:3, 4...more than likely, once we reach perfection again, there will be no need for eating meat, just as it was for Adam and Eve or the few generations that existed before the flood...

Actually a correction here is needed since Christ and God exist as one being there is nothing to turn over.

Maybe you should read the scripture...I suppose the writers of the Bible got it wrong...

"Next, the end, when he hands over the Kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power. For he must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing." 1 Corinthians 15:24-26

that was not called for

Yes, it was. This thread was started by a third person for someone to answer questions about their denomination. It wasn't created to crap all over JWs and call them a cult. That's not creating an environment in which anyone wants to answer questions. It's derailing and counter-productive to the purpose of the thread. It's douchebaggery.

Re: Ask a Jehovah's Witness - Elvira

Do JW's believe in God answering prayers for healing?

How would you define the relationship between Jesus and God?

Why do JWs seek out arguments with other Christians? The church where I got saved used to do a face-painting booth at the County Fair and since I have zero artistic skills, I was the "barker". EVERY year, a few JWs would show up and try to start an argument about some point they wanted to make. It wasn't a civil discourse, it was a straight up aggressive challenge. I've had similar situations arise with JWs at my workplace. So why the focus on this aggressive debating style of discussion?

Why did the JWs stop coming to my house when my wife asked one of them for her Bible (since what she was quoting didn't line up with what my wife knew of the Bible, she asked for hers so that she could study and try to reconcile the two)?

It seems as if all the various Christian denominations can find a passage in the Bible that supports their beliefs.
This makes it difficult to ascertain which denomination has it exactly "right".
Much easier---for me, at least---to just believe in Christ and try to be a good person

Nope they got it correct.

which is why it is important to remember context and verbiage being used in the bible.

Phi 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Phi 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Phi 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Phi 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Christ Is All  --  C. H. Spurgeon

the same verbiage is used in Collosians as well.

But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he “has put everything under his feet.”[c] Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.

29 Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them? 30 And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? 31 I face death every day—yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord. 32 If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised,

“Let us eat and drink,
for tomorrow we die.”[d]
33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”[e] 34 Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.

Put that passage IN CONTEXT.

That passage is referring to the Resurrection, not after the 1,000 Years. It's reference to the fact that Adam handed over the Kingdom (the Earth and our place in it) to Satan when he refused God's grace and hid himself. The Old Covenant and the punishment of Satan's rule was ended and the Kingdom was returned to it's rightful King.

That is why it is important to do more than just read the Bible...one has to study and compare scriptures in order to get the true meaning...if one seems to contradict the other, then dig deeper, because it evidently doe not mean what you think it means...keep searching and studying until all scriptures are compatible...therein you will find the truth...

That is why I go back and look deeper and look at what is being discussed and if it differs from what Christ said.
if there is anything that differs from the message of Christ and the bible I tend to be skeptical.

the JW bible has re-written many passages incorrectly that even greek authorities have said are wrong.
it was done deliberately because JW's do not believe that Christ is God. They believe that he is a created being.

That he is not God himself. yet if you read the passages of the bible Christ clearly claims his deity. The conflusion comes in that Christ has
a dualistic nature. not only is he God but he is also The Son of Man. In taking on that role he also became a servant, However he did not shed who he was.

beware the trap of being just a good person. CHrist warns about that as well. Christ ultimate goal is for him to be the center of your life in everything you do.

Well, I'll just have to take my chances, I guess.
At least, as I'm burning in eternal hell with the prince of darkness, I'll know my loved ones think highly of me.
