As such, this fasting abstains one not only from eating and drinking, but also keeps one away from evils and bad activities, and encourages to engage oneself in prayer, charity and other good deeds, and brings one closer to Allah. Furthermore, Ramadan is not only the month of fasting, but it also is the month of Quran. It is the month in which The Holy Quran was revealed as a guidance for mankind.'

A freind was in Marrakech last Ramadan and said that after dark the social life was was like thanksgiving.

I was hearing the same about Iraqies, that people sleep in the day and then stay out till the wee hours in large groups eating and having fun every night.
