Well, you have totally failed with Washington, since you only rely on a source that is thoroughly discredited. That source had it's book on Jefferson removed by the publisher due to a 'lack of confidence of it's accuracy.'

Nonsense. You failed on Washington. So now you're going to run away from claiming Jefferson was a deist?

You have failed to demonstrate your point.. you continually used a failed source. But, do claim victory if that makes you feel better.

    Re: Deism

don't think some even understand what a Deist's beliefs to be yet claim so many Founders to be Deists when their very writings prove they squelch the basic Deist beliefs.

I also think some participating in this thread want to exterminate anything Christian in regard to the Founders for their own personal choice.

I also believe most Founders were of the Christian faith. But they were also tolerant of other faiths.

I also believe this country became in existence to fulfill the LORD's plan. It became great for that purpose.

    Cheers!

    Re: Deism

The two principle beliefs of Deism were:

    1. Although God created the universe, he did not intervene in the affairs of men and nations. He did not guide men into the founding of nations, or do miracles, or answer prayer, or provide providential protection to his followers.

    2. God did not give divine / revealed revelation to man (i.e. the Bible, prophecy, etc.)

I think one would be hard pressed to find many our founding fathers who fit those descriptions.
