My favorite is this one. But there are many, many more at the link.

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword."

Jesus did say that. Not that many people know he said that.

What is the point of this thread and how is it religious in anyway?

Jesus, and the things he never said. Last I looked he was a religious person, and the things he said or didn't say are a bone of contention.

Shouldn't your thread title be :Things Ann Coulter never said?

Only if she is your savior.

Which brings up an interesting point. I don't see where Jesus said, "You can scapegoat the meek and poor, but as long as you repeatedly utter my name, you'll go to heaven."

Shes not, but you are the one who used her picture and a bogus quote to prove some sort of point. Not me.

Are you saying you didn't understand how that post was in context with the thread title and op? I'll be happy to explain it. :)

Start by explaining why you posted BS lies about ann.

My interpretation of that meme--a tweet I didn't create, btw, but did find to be apt for this thread nonetheless---is that she perfectly represents the Jesus worshiping crowd who do the exact opposite of what Jesus said, which is exactly what the Twitter hashtag thread is mocking.

Are you sure that's not from the Quran? It sounds kind of violent...

Here's the rest of it, from the ESV translation:

"Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."

What he means is that Christian converts are going to be in for it, to the point where even their own family members will turn against them.

So you're pointing out your gripe against her by dishonestly insinuating that she made a comment she never said? Yeah, real slick Ace.

No one is blowing themselves up at airports while citing that verse, or anything that has to do with Christianity.

Actually that paragraph is quite meaningful. It says to reject the ways of your forefathers and follow my new way. It certainly doesn't say return to your homes and continue business as usual but pray to me and just be sure to mention my name to everyone you see.

Thankfully the days of burning people at the stake in Jesus's name are behind us...for now.

It says no such thing. If you say you're going to follow, follow. If you're not, don't.

Isn't it interesting you have to read the concept of converts into that... and give nuances that are not inherent into the text itself.

Here we go again....

I have to get to services now. When I come back I will teach you about what your scriptures say.

Do try.,. but do use the actual words, and the proper translation, in context.

It certainly says what I wrote when you take that paragraph in context with everything else he said. This is probably the most telling statemnet Jesus said of all.

Mathew 19:
…20“All these I have kept,” said the young man. “What do I still lack?” 21Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.” 22When the young man heard this, he went away in sorrow, because he had great wealth. 23Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.…29And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for the sake of My name will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.…

"Many of you say, 'Oh but I am not blind. I have never been blind.' But when you truly see, you will understand just how truly blind you once were to even think it right to say you were not blind.

What does a blind man see? Blackness. Darkness. Blankness. Black darkness. Dark blankness. The absence of things. Quite literally no thing. No things. Nothing. Nothings. So you see nothing, and I bring you into the light.

A cat has your pipe. You have been blind. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS? The cat has your pipe.

You can't fully immerse yourself, you don't have the light! You don't have the radiance, the radical light, the radically radiant light of truth and truth's belonging love and nature of light and loving truthful radiance.

So don't be bold and make bold statements - I know of you. The cat has your pipe. The. Cat. Has. Your. Pipe.

Remember that."
