I have seen similar threads to this one. I have seen threads asking if Christians believe Jesus is God, the son of God, or a prophet of God. I usually feel when I see those threads, there is not a clear answer on the question of Jesus being God according to the Christian faith.

Well the other day I was flipping through my channel listing and stopped on the 700 Club. A woman said, "I know Jesus is the one true God." Nobody else on the panel appeared bothered by her statement. She declared Jesus is God. That confirmed to me that Christians actually do believe that Jesus is God, and Jesus was God in the flesh on Earth.

If Christians say "Jesus is God," then that seems very clear to me. Am I wrong?

Yes, simply stated, He is the one true God. The slightly more complex answer is that He is the Son of the Living God and part of the Holy Trinity.

The Trinity is God, he's part of the trinity. Father, Son, And Holy Ghost. Just think of it like this, an old bearded dude lives in the sky and he has a split personality. Jesus is one of the personalities.

That actually sounds confusing to me.

I have never heard a Christian say Jesus isn't God. I'm not sure what denomination that would be.

Don't ask me, I didn't buy it when I was 10, I don't buy it now. But it's basically one god with split personalities. The Father is the main personality, the son is the one everyone likes, and the Holy Ghost does the dirty work like killing all the first born of Egypt.

Nobody living knows what God looks like.

Well, that's because he doesn't exist... I'm merely answering a question about Christian Mythology. Ask me what the deal with Zeus is, I'll give you a similar answer.

Actually, they believe Jesus was one of three true Gods, or one third of the true God, or the one route to the true God or the son of the true God or all of the above, depending.
I like the Buddhist take on Christianity, "There's a finger pointing at the moon and you're looking at the finger."

I would say most Christians believe that. Why did you think people would be bothered by her statement?

When I was young, I heard it explained that it's like an egg. An egg has three parts, but it's still one egg.

I think it gets confusing when trying to explain the Trinity. I don't understand how Christians think he is God and God's son. Saying that Jesus is God is actually less confusing to understand. I think hearing that made me realize that above all, Jesus is God to Christians.

Well, that's because he doesn't exist...

That is your belief, not mine, but if you're going to claim some knowledge of Christian "mythology" what's the point of mixing something in there you just made up?

Because it's all made up and that is how God is depicted in most artwork and depictions of him. Why do you ask stupid questions you already know the answer to?

I would not consider anyone who rejects Jesus as God as being Christian (and I'm pretty sure they also wouldn't consider themselves Christian). There really is no middle ground on Jesus. Either He's exactly who He says He is or He is (or was) a liar and/or insane.

Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses are two.

Dude, there's guidelines in this forum. You can't criticize anyone's religion (or lack thereof) in this forum.

Not a criticism, merely a statement of my own beliefs. Now if I had said it was stupid to believe it, that would be a criticism. See the difference...

I think Mormons believe Jesus is the literal son of God and so is Satan. They consider themselves Christian.

Oh, dear. That's a logical fallacy that's been around since CS Lewis tried to foist it off on a simple and unthinking public.

False dichotomy. He could be a lot more than just those three.

Not sure who you think you're fooling but it's pretty clear why you're even posting in this thread.

I don't see how Jesus could be god. God is god. Jesus is at best his messenger.

Wouldn't that actually be a trichotomy? He made some pretty specific statements so either He is who He says (said) or He is not and if He is not, then He has (had) to be either a liar or crazy. In any case, for whatever reason you're all hostile and pissy, it's pretty obvious that to continue to have any kind of conversation would be a waste of time.
