Transgender people will burn in hell. According to a friend.

I was talking to a friend of mine, who thinks I and others like me will burn in hell. Why? Cause we're Transgendered.
The conversation went basically this way:

"I will pray for your soul"
Why?
"Because by doing this, you are going to hell"
Why?
"BECAUSE, God made you male, that was his intention, you were born male."
Yes, but God also said learn, and use knowledge, we have learned to fix mistakes, my being born male was a mistake
"No, it was God's plan."
Wait so how we're born is God's plan is it?
"Yes, it's in the Bible"
So if I was born blind, and science could fix that... I'd go to hell?
"That's different"

The conversation did not go well from there.
 
Nothing points to your body being wrong, so why would god accept you cutting off your balls or taking the wrong hormones? Wouldn't he agree with you doing something about your brain, not your penis?

Also, being blind is a ridiculous comparison on your part. Fixing blindness would involve acting on the affected area, while the treatment for transgenderism involves removing healthy body parts. There is no reason to even consider the two comparable.

I've had more than a few kinds of conservations with my mom before that are very similar to that. Just replace transgender with gay.

I would imagine not. Fortunately for you and for us all, your friend represents a tiny minority that thinks they have the insight to identify who is going to hell and generally tend to be pretty intolerant in that regard.

If it is any comfort to you, most of those type would say I am going to hell too for other reasons.

Let's just agree together that they don't have the authority to discern or dictate our ultimate fate. :)

Why am I not surprised? I find the attitudes anyplace 40 miles or more south of Austin to be very intolerant of people who are different. I noticed that Hispanics are getting the brunt more than Blacks right now. Of course, that might because there are so many more Hispanics in the area, and I am not observing how blacks are being treated.

I mean, did you see that flier that got put on the campus in San Marcos that called for vigilante work about tar and feathering faculty that taught diversity?

As a Christian, the only problem I have is the bath/dressing room issues where kids are involved. Otherwise.....
 
I'm pretty sure you could find atleast 5 different ways that person is going to hell based on "God's" rules in the bible.

Just do what I do in those situations and make up your own god on the spot and tell them according to him they're actually the ones going to hell. Fight fiction with fiction.

Also, generally when people pretend god is obsessed with what you do with your genitals, they're actually the ones obsessed with your genitals.

Actually, it's a matter of perspective, in this case, his belief that you are born as intended, thus fixing something "broken" be it the mind body or the just the body, through science are really the same thing. The comparison stands.

Well, you've already made up your own god, so yeah, you have. The asshole you talked to made up his own morality and pretended it was sanctioned by god. You invented one that doesn't hate transgendered people, and he invented one that does. The sooner we get to realizing that it's all just our subjective opinions, the better. Be who you want to be, god doesn't give a **** about your genitals because he's dead.
