Can Someone Explain Being "Saved?"

Thank goodness we're all blessed by your superior discernment.

The Bible refers to being saved as receiving a favorable standing with the “Lord” ...but it also makes clear that no one is saved until the end...whether it is the end of his life or the end of this world as we know it, if he remains faithful..."But the one who has endured to the end will be saved." Matthew 24:13

The thought of "once saved, always saved" is not supported by Scripture...

I'm pretty sure Presbyterians do.

Being saved just means that you have accepted Jesus as your personal savior and that is the only way to heaven.

Couldn't that also be defined as a Christian?

This may sound like an odd question, but I am a Presbyterian. I don't believe in being "saved. So I am wondering if someone can explain that to me and the theology behind it.

It is a fairly strange concept. The idea is that people are born with original sin in their souls. Adam and Eve committed the original sin and, apparently, it haunts humanity to this day. Salvation is salvation from Hell by the forgiveness of original sin. In most christian religions, the sin is forgiven through the act of baptism. That may be a simplistic description of the concept but I think it applies to most christian sects.

Everyone who dies goes to hell...Job prayed to go to hell or the grave...Job 14:13-15...Jesus was in hell...Acts 2:31...
