God does answer Prayers and He is never late. [W:28]

It doesn't matter what they believe now does it.
There is biblical evidence and proof that God intervenes in peoples lives all the time.

from Abraham to the disciples themselves. to Paul and others.
Even still today he intervenes in peoples lives.

maybe not directly but directly.

PS you are not a mod but you can read the mod warning on the last page if you wish.

I would disagree. You are referring to extraordinary individuals, those select few specifically chosen to receive either communication or to be the beneficiaries of miraculous intervention. I freely grant that this is possible and think it is tied to the achievement of specific and extraordinary ends. But your promotion? That seems horrifying. Again it means that the boy who prayed for food was left wanting despite fervent prayer, but that God took the time to make sure you are slightly better positioned in your workplace? It transforms God into a childish wishing machine, and an astonishingly capricious one. That is grotesque to me and not the theology I would subscribe to.

Nevertheless like the others in this thread I congratulate you on the promotion. I think the better prayer is to thank God for your good fortune, your character, and for your inner-contentment.

God often works through other people, so the thanksgiving is not incorrect. There is the concept of free will too, which would indicate the efforts of yourself and others.

Thank you.
A football player thanking God for the touchdown he just scored might be called 'deeply religious' by those who admire the display but to others the display looks shallow. As does thanking God for granting you small favours.

Scientists say prayer can reduce cravings in alcoholics

"A small new study out of the NYU Langone Medical Center finds that at least among 20 long-term Alcoholics Anonymous members who reported no cravings in the week leading up to the test, prayer reduced cravings that arose when shown images of alcoholic drinks or people drinking."

"In previous research, participants asked to pray every day for four weeks drank about half as much as those who were not."

the bible says otherwise to thank him in all things no matter how good or bad.
as the verses I already posted in this thread say.

My promotion finally came through. My managers have been trying to 2 years to get me
promoted to the next level. Last year it got scuttled due to a corporate merger.
Finally yesterday I found out that my promotion went through.

came with a nice pay raise that I need as our van is on it's last leg and
we are going to have to bite the bullet and get another car next year.

but if god did not answer prayers then the world would look the same so its hard to see that any gods actually answer prayers

If you yourself do not pray, how do you know whether He answers? How do you know that the world looks the same to those who pray as to those who don't or what the differences are?

Well, I know someone who used to be a bible waving , holy spirit filled Christian for the first 40 years of his life, then he got doubts. He used to pray all the time, and thought his prayers were answered. After he got doubts, he saw that he was fooling himself (or at least believed he was fooling himself). The same things happened with or without prayer. He could not hold onto his faith anymore, and he is now agnostic. He misses being a believer, but he can't fool himself anymore. To a large extent, his journey to being an agnostic started with prayer.

So, for him at least, according to his story... that is how it is for him. How true of that it would be for other people, I don't know. But, it is at least a testimony of one that has been on both sides of the belief spectrum.

um iv done it nothing out of the ordinary happend if you attribute whatever happens to god no mater what that is then it looks the same as if ther is no god becase either way what happens happens

you have no information to support this so you can take your anti-religious attitude elsewhere.

even the bible says that he doesn't answer every prayer and sometimes the answer is no.
God is not a genie that is pulled out of bottle to grant whatever you want.

unfortunately people think that is exactly what prayer is.

please see the mod warning on the previous page.

whats the problem i jsut dont understand the link between this promotion and a god answering a prayer

not saying your dosent exist or cant answer prayers jsut want to know why this should be taken as a sign that such happens

is ther any scenario where you woudl say god did not answer any prayer if not then the claim that god always answers prayers is not falsifiable and a world with and with out gods answering prayers would be identical

so god is never late becase god dosent have to ever do anything ok then

you yet again prove you need to read the mod's warning on the last page.
If God chooses to do nothing He is allowed. He is the ruler and no one is ruler over Him.

i read it

and i dont see how trying to understand what you mean is a violation

For we are saved by grace not of works least any man should boast.
Sure I could take all the credit, but that doesn't do anything.

The Lord gets the credit for giving me the ability and skill. He gets the credit for the correct timing
and filling a need that my family will have in the next year.

He does provide all your needs.
It is a testimony.

he provides for all of your needs but he dosent have to becase he can do whatever he wants as no one rules over him?
