If you could ask Jesus questions..

He was half-human so his human side naturally showed through at times.
Same with Spock, he's half-human too but emotion sometimes shows through-

This answer illustrates your complete ignorance concerning the Bible. But then, this thread was never intended as a serious discussion. Right?

I'd ask him to challenge Mohammad to a cage match.

Why can't we have oceans full of wine? The Pacific could be whites and the Atlantic could be reds.

Good point, Jesus had no beef against booze, for example he changed 120 gallons of water to wine, and told his mates at the last supper- "I will not drink wine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom." (Matt 26:29)
That's me out then, I don't drink (sniffle)

Thanks for the compliment mate, I know I'm a fearsome opponent on the debating circuit, right Rock?

"C'mon, it's true, but that don't bother me, I just wanna prove somethin', I ain't no bum, it don't matter if I lose, don't matter if Desperado opens my head.
The only thing I wanna do is go the distance, that's all.
Nobody's ever gone fifteen rounds with Desperado. If I go them fifteen rounds, an' that bell rings an' I'm still standin', I'm gonna know then I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood"...

Well, 'fearsome' isn't the word that comes to my mind but whatever get's you through the long, lonely nights, I guess.

Id hand him a bible and ask "Can I get a rewrite?"

Which bits of this would you like written out?-
"Love one another, feed the hungry, house the homeless, clothe the destitute, tend the sick, visit the prisoners, look after the poor"- Jesus of Nazareth (Mark 12:30, John 13:34, Matt 25: 37-40)

If you knew the history of the bible and the rewrites it had already undergone, you would understand my question.

PS don't cherry pick verses in an attempt to foster agreement, I can see through that.

Jesus, it isn't easy to be humble. Show me how.

Some christians mistakenly think 'humble' means being wimpy, but some don't.
For example ex-bounty hunter Paul became a Christian and couldn't stop shouting about the feelgood factor..;)-
"As surely as the truth of Christ is in me, nobody in the regions of Achaia will stop this boasting of mine" (2 Cor 11:10)

I would ask Him WHY it was necessary for God to have blood sacrifice of His own son in order to forgive the sins of the world. Why could God not have just waved his all-powerful hand and forgive the sins? Was God too weak to do that? Is He a God that demands blood sacrifices of the innocent to pay for the sins of the guilty?
It's a horrible (and very pagan) concept and so I'd like to know why a loving God would ever do such a thing.
I find it abominable and impossible to reconcile with a benign Creator.

1- Jesus had to die in order to soak up the bad vibes (sins) of mankind that had been accumulating for centuries, and give us a clean slate. He was therefore a "spiritual ightning conductor" soaking it up, and our 'reality' glitched and heaved because of it (black sky, thunder, earthquake).

2-The earth is a Testing Ground, so of course things get rough because God has a non-interference Prime Directive, otherwise the test wouldn't be a test if he kept running on the pitch to help out.
"All creation groans in pain from the beginning til now" (Romans 8:22)
"We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God" (Acts 14:22)
Jesus said "To follow me you must carry your own cross daily" (Luke 9:23)

The C.O. shows no favouritism:-
"God didn't spare his own son" (Romans 8:32)
So if he can hack it so can we:-
"We share in Jesus's sufferings in order to share in his glory" (Romans 8:17)
"Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life.." (James 1:12)

How about it Bob?

"Take the pain! TAKE THE PAIN!"

But for those who want a soft, easy religion, Christianity's not for them -
"They prefer teachers who only tell them what they want to hear" (2 Tim 4:3)

..When I was at Catholic schools..

Whoa you guys who were lumbered with a catholic "education", just remember that if catholics are true christians, I'm Nanny McPhee..;)
I know they've got Jesus in there somewhere but then they blow it by praying to his human mum and to human "saints" even though nowhere did he say to do that. Their prayers are therefore like firing blanks..:)

What would you ask him?
Post them here and I'll have a guess at how he'd reply.
My "credentials"?- I'm a non-denominational 'Freelance Christian' and modestly claim to know something about the bible and have gained quite a fan following as I've strutted my stuff in assorted discussion forums over the years under various screennames, as well as getting the usual hate mail..;)

It would be interesting to know, whether He thought it had been worth it.

Is a true christian, similar to a true scotsman?

True Christians are as rare as gold, I estimate that of all the so-called christians I've met, only about 1 out of every 10 are "trues".
The phonies feel the same about me, for example a "Reverend Eric Potts" once said to me in a forum -"You disgust me".
However, it turned out he wasn't a real Rev at all, just a jumped-up "Assistant Methodist Minister".
My guess is that he's the caretaker of their local meeting hall and they gave him that lofty title to keep him sweet so he'll go on slopping out the latrines..:)

1. Are there other civilizations out there? Are they like us or very different? Does each one have the blessing of knowing their own "Jesus"? If we are the only ones, why us?
2. How did you really create the universe? Did our scientists get close with their theories?
3. What is the length and breadth of the universe or is it infinite and eternal?
4. Are there dogs in heaven?

1- These verses hint at other worlds and civilisations out there-
"God made the worlds.." (Hebrews 11:3 KJV)
Jesus said- "I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also." (John 10:16)

2/3- Nobody knows the true nature of the universe. For example God might have written a 'Creation/Evolution' program, then hit 'Enter' to start it, THAT was the Big Bang..:)

4- This verse indicates that when animals die their souls "absorb" into that great "Soul Pool" in the sky like ours do, so yes I know I'll probably be re-united with my pet mongrel Nip who I had as a kid (sniffle)-
"And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them..." (Revelation 5:13)

This answer illustrates your complete ignorance concerning the Bible..

Why, because I said Jesus was half-human? He came out of his mummy's tummy didn't he, so go figure..;)
Or are you one of those fundies who think he was 100% God?

Not what I had in mind when I made that post.

I'll take that as a yes

If you had ever actually read the Bible (as you claimed), you'd know. ;)

If you want somebody to feed you only the verses that you like, you're gonna have to get yerself another boy-
"The time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear" (2 Tim 4:3)

As for "re-writes" of the Bible, wait a minute! In one breath atheists say it's full of contradictions, and in the next they say its been edited over the centuries to make it look good!
Wish they'd make up their minds and tell us if its been prettied up or hasn't it..:)

You are confusing me with someone that is an atheist. Don't assume. It's just going to make you look foolish.

I would like to have the literal word of God. If I get the same thing back, I guess I better interpret the book better than I have been.

If you had ever actually read the Bible (as you claimed), you'd know. ;)

Yes I KNOW Jesus was not God because he said so himself..;)-

"I am going to the Father, for my Father is greater than I" (John 14:28 )
"Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone" (Luke 18:19)
"Only God knows when Judgement Day will be, I don't know myself" (Mark 13:32)
"I say nothing of my own accord, i only say what my father tells me to say.." (John 12:49)
"I am going to my Father and your Father, my God and your God" (John 20:17)

High Priest asks - "Are you the Son of God?", and Jesus replies - "I am" (Mark 14:61)
God himself said - "This is my beloved Son, listen to him" (Matt 17:5)

Why are they mutually exclusive?
