Curses and hexes.

Wicca seems like a rather fascinating and entertaining sorority that appeals to a lot of females.

I don't know enough about it to praise or criticize it either way.

There were a lot of beautiful, liberating, and enchanting aspects of it, for sure. I really liked the message, and the communities I met. It really appealed to me for a few years, but then I just lost contact with it all. Life just kept piling up on me and I was trying to keep my head above water. Life happens, I guess.

My own fraternal org of choice is the Freemasons.

If your husband is a Freemason then you can join Eastern Star.

If you are not married but your father or grandfather was a Freemason then you can still join Eastern Star.

Everyone would be happy in a fraternity or sorority of their choice.

Aren't they supposed to be protestant? Or, does it matter anymore? I don't know anything about them, other than once while working on a campaign this mason building let us do a volunteer event in their hall.

I don't think it matters anymore.

But originally in England and Scotland they were Protestant, yes.

In Germany they were both Protestant and Catholic.

In France they were Catholic.

Since we don't talk about religion or politics, as a standing rule, anyone can be anything from anywhere around the world.

We do not allow atheists though.

And we rarely if ever allow x-convicts.

Hello,

Anyone on this thread know anything about curses, what they are, what they are alleged to do? The subject sounds all interesting and fascinating. And it has been romanticized. But to me it is all ado about nothing. Sure there have been people in the past you wanted to curse but did anything bad happen to the other fellow? Still waiting? It makes the curser feel good but nothing else.

Well, there's seven of them that you can't say on television, and very few that you can say here.

There are also male witches and couples who practice Wicca.

I knew a guy who had been practicing Wicca for a long time. He was really fascinating to talk to, and knew a whole bunch of stuff. He kinda creeped me out though, and I never did any ceremonies with him. I preferred to be around other girls or older ladies who really knew their stuff.

I have endured much listening about the Egyptian vs the Celtic tradition, the Goddess, and etc. What I find most interesting is how various covens are created on the cafeteria plan. If various members don't agree with what the particulars are, they simply hive off and create their own covens. But there's some standard stuff such as ancestor altars, crystal healing bowls that "sing," and so on.

Honestly I am not sure and have no idea why women are attracted to Wicca.

I would think that the beautiful Catholic Xmas ceremonies with the babe in the manger and the barn yard animals all around and angels from heaven singing and all that would be exciting enough once each year, as far as hearth fantasies go.

The bonfire dance of the sky clad women for the initiation of women into Wicca is fairly well known, I think. One lady at a scuba diving club dinner told me all about it. She goes to the local Wiccan gatherings here.

If I had not seen it with my own eyes (and spotting scope) I would not have believed it. Plus the scuba lady also explained it.

So there you have it, Alyssa. That's everything that I know about it.

Wiccans run in covens, solitary and family groups. Some pagans will claim Wicca just because it is easier than explaining their specific beliefs and how they differ from others.

As a DeMolay, I can tell you that, while comprised mostly of Christians, they are not strictly Christian. They hold to no church, and at least for DeMolay, you only have to believe in a single creator. While the ceremonies use the male pronoun, that is more for tradition and simplicity, such as using the male pronoun when referring to the general population.

She was referring (correctly) on the Papal prohibition on Freemasonry.

But I and a lot of my Catholic friends are Freemasons.

Sorry, I don't understand any of this.

DeMolay, is the boys' youth group of the Mason's. For the girls there is Job's Daughters for those with Masonic relatives and Rainbow Girls for all others. The Youth groups share many basic principles with the Mason's. One of the few requirements for joining is that you believe in a single Creator. They don't require that it be the Christian God. By the wording used, it could well be the Goddess. Beyond being monotheistic, they don't care what name/title you apply to the Creator.

That is interesting. I didn't know the Masons let any women or girls join. Or, is that just a young girls club?

Eastern Star is the adult women's, Job's Daughters for the young women, Rainbow for the girls.

The two I previously mentioned were for girls. Adult women are able to join Eastern Star.

Okay, thanks. I had no idea. The only time I talked about Mason stuff was at a wedding one night years ago. Two guys were saying some things, but I didn't really understand. It was late, I was tired, and they were laughing a lot saying that I just don't understand. Yeah, that was the point, I didn't know what they were talking about. Whatever. Sorry to disrupt the thread.

Jobless and Rainbows are both the same age group. job's Daughters is limited to just Masonic related girls, while Rainbows is open to all girls.

The power of suggestion is powerful and placebos often work. Traditionally, cursing sometimes included poisoning or drugging the victim.

The phenomenon in known as "hex death" or "voodoo death" as it was originally seen in people who believe in Voodoo so strongly that they would take their hex so seriously and give up on living and die. This same effect can be seen sometimes in cancer patients and people who have been given a terminal diagnosis, deteriorating much faster than expected because they had lost the will to live.

Are there any studies to cite on this?

I try not to think bad thoughts about people too much. Even my enemies. I think im a witch or maybe its the jew blood from ancestory. Whenever I hate someone and keep thinking bad **** about them it seems their life starts to get worse. So I try to ignore people that make me feel bad and hopefully bless people with gold hearts. ;)

I also notice that if I keep thinking bad thoughts about someone who just irritated me, but isnt bad, then I seem to accidentally hurt myself soon after.

Of course this is probably just all bull**** and me paying attention to too many coincidences.

Wow, yeah, be careful. Don't be messing around with just any old magic. Or was it magik, or magick or some other weird spelling? Point is, you gotta be careful with that stuff. Just like brooms. Don't just jump on any old broom and go for a spin. Take it easy.

Just kidding. Kinda. Be careful.
