Just out of curiosity, do comments like "Christ on a cracker", etc. bother you at all? I admit that it is something that feels like a little dig at my faith. I totally acknowledge that many times there is no ill will intended and often people are just trying to be funny (and goodness know that I've said offensive things just going for the laugh). I'm just saying that, while it's not something I dwell on, I personally don't care for it.

(and now that I've admitted that, I fully expect to see it a lot more in replies and responses to me )

Yup. Bothers me, too, but I usually just ignore it because so many people say that, or a derivative of it. You are not alone.

That's terrible. Now I can't stop laughing. lol

That's nothing nearly as bad as the "Jesus freaking Christ" I've occasionally heard - and sometimes "freaking" was substituted by the more profane f-word!

I saw a French movie once where someone shouted "Christ on a bike!" I thought it was pretty funny.

I'm sensing sarcasm here.

Does it bother me? In a way but not really, if that makes any sense? You hear various forms of Jesus and Christ used as expletives again and again: "JesusHChrist" or just "Jesus" or just "Christ" or even "geez" is certainly a derivative and I am guilty of using that one now and then. But when I do, I am not thinking of my Lord and Savior--it is just a word like 'damn' or 'what the hell?' or some such. And I think those who use the more explicit terms are also not thinking of Jesus of Nazareth or the Biblical persona when they use those terms.

Do I think we would all be showing respect if we chose different words? Sure. But is it worth making a big deal out of? I don't think so.

Nope - I find the f-word derivative particularly offensive; the 'freaking' variation is not quite as offensive to me, and regrettably I've occasionally used it.

I abhor swearing, and hate the habit.

Yes, having once been a sailor I can put up with people dropping F bombs and such but I have to draw the line at taking the Lord's name in vain.

It "bothers" me when comments like that come from my fellow-Christians....after all, we aren't supposed to use the name of the Lord in vain. And if something is said to be funny, even though sometimes I find myself laughing over the joke.....there's still that uncomfortable feeling deep inside.

I don't take the Lord's name in vain, either. That's where I draw the line as well.

Dude, we could never hang then. I have a potty mouth.

If you swear creatively, with intelligence, and a good sense of humor - I'll make an exception! ;)

It doesn't bother me at all.

If I am with a friend who it does bother, however, I will certainly refrain from using such language.

I think personally choosing not to use just religious terms as profanity is one thing, and how bothered we are by it when somebody else does is another thing. For me I think it is the way it is done that creates the discomfort. Those who just innocently swear "Jesus" under their breath don't bother me but those who are being intentionally disrespectful or pointedly insulting do.

For instance, I'll ask everybody, is this cartoon funny? Disrespectful? Insulting? Do you tend to laugh or resent it? (In the interest of full disclosure, it makes me uncomfortable.)

personally I like christ and apart from this he is a prophet .I dont approve it either

What do you guys mean by "draw the line"?

For me, I draw the line at govt support. I fully support an individual's right to say "Christ on a cracker" but if the govt ever put it on a flag, I'd object.

TBH, I rarely curse in real life
