I've noticed that this forum is lacking a Prayer Request Thread. People of faith know the power of prayer. People of faith incorporate it in their lives daily. So for all of those at DP who are people of faith wish to share others to lift up those in need please post it here. No prayer list is too long to include another even though you don't know them personally.

This past week for me has been daunting. My daughter was diagnosed with a mass. First the biopsy and then the waiting to determine if it was cancerous. It came back benign which was very good news. Praise the Lord. But she still faces surgery to remove the mass. Her surgery is scheduled the first of June.

I believe in the power of prayer. If you have someone you wish for others to pray for, please list them in this thread. None of us of faith have to know them personally to pray for them. In fact I find those who do without personal attachment personify what my Lord teaches about loving others.

As we've discussed on other threads, I'm not a religious person but I do still pray - that may sound odd or hypocritical, but for me it's just a matter of not believing in earthly, organized religion and what it has done or caused over the centuries. I also don't know - who does - if their is a greater power, but I do pray for others on a regular basis. As such, I shall pray for your daughter and your family and wish all of you the very best during this difficult time you're sharing. The important thing is that you're sharing it and none of you are alone.

May peace and comfort be yours.

Greetings, Vesper. :2wave:

I'd like to offer a prayer of thanks for the good news your daughter and her family got, and also that her upcoming surgery goes well. As a mom, I can't imagine the worry you and your hubby have been through, so that prayer includes a thanks for the peace and relief you both must feel, too. *hug*

Thank you so much Pol. The purpose of this thread is for anyone feeling a burden for another to post it and those of faith who believe in the power of prayer add them to their prayer/concern list. There are a lot of hurting people out there. It doesn't matter your political views or even your religious views. To pray for others is above all of that. It is the epitome of what my Lord teaches me in loving others. I hope folks list their personal concerns here so those of faith can pray for them.

You know, lately the poster we know as Beaudreux has been on my mind, since his wife has been battling cancer. He has not been on here in quite a while, though, and I don't know the reason. I hope it is not bad news, since he seemed to be a nice man. He called her "yes ma'am" which I thought was so nice.
He told me he was from the same town in NC where my late hubby's people hail from, and I knew a lot of the places he talked about, having been there dozens of times over the years.

Beau is a great example of one to lift up in prayer. I hope the faithful on DP make note of that and add him and is wife to their prayer/concern list. Thank you Pol for bringing attention to this.

Re: Prayer Requests

I request we all pray for the soul of the US and the world to save it from the slow death of faux-christians in the west, and faux-mulims in the east who are pro-war, pro-poverty, pro-brutality, ... anti-free will, set in judgement of others in order to inflict their own will upon, ... well that's a start. Let us pray.

Re: Prayer Requests

Good idea for this thread. Maybe a Mod could make it a sticky?

I didn't say anything here, but about a month and a half ago, I went to see my doctor because of an issue I was having. She wanted to do a biopsy to make sure that my issue wasn't cancer. Well, I'm going to turn a hangnail into cancer. I have this overactive worry gene preloaded into my psyche, and there's nothing to be done about it. I worry. I just do.

Well, she couldnt' do a normal "in office" biopsy, so she had to schedule me for outpatient surgery. I had to wait a month for the surgery. Sheesh, from that point onward, everywhere I turned, someone was talking about cancer. TV commercials. TV shows that I watched, one of the characters had cancer. Radio programs. Books, magazines. Everywhere I turned. Even in my psych class, for two weeks in a row, my psych teacher talked about cancer, and the stages of dying. I was like, "seriously??" I also have an immobilizing fear, almost, of death, so this was really bothering me. I'm pretty young, with a 100% disabled husband and two teenage girls. I wasn't ready for this.

I prayed, and prayed, and prayed about it. I didnt' want to worry my mom, but wanted her prayers, too. One morning, after a particularly worrisome night, I got up, and had a long talk with God. From that point forward, I didn't worry in the least. I left every worry I had with Him, and I knew that my biopsy could come back clean. It was honestly like a light switch flicked on. I knew I was OK, and the biopsy came back benign.

I never, ever underestimate the power of prayer.

you and the old man have been in my prayers more than a few times... no real reason... just because.

Re: Prayer Requests

who does an atheist like yourself pray to?

If you have a problem with praying as requested, then don't. I have requested a legitimate prayer request. Perhaps you should stop trolling me.

Re: Prayer Requests

Calling all faithful.
Today I learned that a young lady in her twenties who was born with defects and lived her life in a wheel chair appears to be about to die. I have had the privilege of meeting her and getting to know her and she has a million dollar smile, beautiful face and eyes that just sparkle. Nothing wrong with her mind. She graduated from college just two years ago. She has been to my home as my cousin has been her caregiver for over a decade. She has become a member of our family celebrating weddings, births, holidays. With each year because of her disability she lost more and more control of her mobility. She had reached a point a feeding tube was needed because she could no longer eat. They have started a morphine drip which usually means there is no more they can do. Please pray for Kelly, her family and the dedicated nurse that cared for her daily. Thank you.

Re: Prayer Requests

You have my and my family's prayers for your daughter's safe and successful surgery vesper.

Sad news about Kelly, may her last days be blessed with family and friends knowing the loving embrace that awaits her at the end of her brave struggle.
