'Tis always a fine day to be Irish, but the point of this Feast Day isn't the green beer; it's the remembrance of the Christian missionary we know as Patrick who died on (or around) March 17th.

Nothing wrong with green beer, though, if you're so inclined!

I just live across the Christian mission school I attended here, St Patrick's School. Great celebrations there every year.

The Patron Saint of Ireland was born in Scotland and kidnapped and taken to Ireland in his youth.

I love the lyrics of this hymn:

Bah! HumBug! Oh, wait, wrong holiday. :)

Shame that you wasted a humbug, LOL.

Nonsense. Today is all about debauchery. No one cares about St. Patrick's missionary work. They're just here for the beer.

You are sadly mistaken. Many people do care about Patrick's missionary work and will attend church today.

'Tisn't true. As many Irishmen would point out, it's green.

Beer shouldn't be green.

No argument from me...although I'm sure it drinks just the same!

St Patricks day as we know it was created in the US.

Corned beef and cabbage is jewish food because the irish had no access to irish bacon in new york.,

The holiday is full of non-irish, getting drunk and acting like idiots.

"green beer" sucks, it's food coloring, idiots.

the same **** they put in the chicago river.

We long stopped going out this night and usually go to a hockey game. the fights are more entertaining.

Somebody always has to come along to try to spoil a celebratory thread. Thanks for getting this out of the way, Rev.

Why was he put to death?

The part of my ancestry that is Irish says thank you - the part of my ancestry that's English also says thank you, at least the ones that recognize that St. Patrick was born in Britain - and the part of my ancestry that's French says bugger off, when's Bastille Day?

Because he turned the beer green.

Only goes to show that it can be too late for you, when they finally realize your genius.

Yep! The French can be stubborn.

Never met a French-Canadian that didn't like a green beer or two. :)

Happy St. Pat's folks !
