Women unworthy of marriage to a 'Christian' man[W26]

OP: it's absurd to put something dripping with sexism in 'Religious' discussion when it should be in sex and sexuality so we can discuss the actual content.

I don't think that this pastor, or anyone that follows him, should marry , or have sex out of marriage at all.

I hear being a Monk is very happening.

For how anti-intimacy and 'men' my parents were/are it's amazing that they as Christians could marry at all - or have kids.

In my experience, a large number of the ones that are 'anti-intimacy' also are the ones that strayed. Their public persona did not match their private actions.

This alleged pastor is epitomizing almost all the negative stereotypes about Christians in modern society. Worth a read.

Sample quote: 'Remember, you want godly, not gaudy.'

10 WOMEN CHRISTIAN MEN SHOULD NOT MARRY | NYCpastor.com
Care to break down each item on the list and elaborate why you disagree? Do you believe it's a good idea for a Christian to marry a nonbeliever, or vice versa? The bible actually warns against it. Why is that bad advice?

Wow, that list is crazy ass stupid.

Number 7: The child hater: Don't marry a woman unwilling to have children.

In my case, I may not be able to have children and if I try to carry it can adversely affect my health and endanger my life. My surgeon and doctor went over this with me. I don't hate children. I am more open to adoption than trying for my own.

Number 5: The sexy dresser....

Number 3: The Older Woman: God expects men to be the spiritual leaders of the home (Eph 5:25) and it certainly requires an extra measure of grace to lead a woman who’s older than you.

That's just ignorant. If you love a woman one year older than you, then it can work. It doesn't mean she is going to run all over her husband or boss him around. Really, what the hell.

All 10 are absurd, but those are the funniest.

I could give you my personal opinion, but it's very much at odds with the bible, so you would clearly claim that I'm wrong.

The bible contains whole lists of warnings that you ignore.

Oh hey a redundancy in action: bloggers with stupid opinions.

Do you eat pork? Cut your hair? Live by the laws in Leviticus?

The bible forbids none of those things. But why don't we stick to the topic of the thread. If you wish to start another thread to discuss other issues concerning the bible, I'm game. But I won't be able to get to until later. The honey-do list awaits.

It's a bit stodgy and old fashioned, but the majority of his points are valid from the position of a religiously-conservative Christian.

Number 1 in particular.... the Bible is clear that believers should marry other believers. Even from a secular view you'd have to admit that having a marriage between two people whose world view, expectations values and norms are based on utterly different foundations is NOT a recipe for marital harmony... not unless both are very flexible about their core principles (which calls into question whether they really are core principles or not).

Acts 10 and 15. Not required of Gentile Christians. Try again.

What, working on Sunday?

Old Testament vs New Testament and New Covenant. Jesus said that what you put into your mouth doesn't matter; it's what comes out of it that does.

Most religions have fairly similar ideas about right and wrong. The rest is rituals.

Lol, of course. The bible instructs me to honor my wife. Don't worry, it's costing me money, not earning any.

Believe me, I'd love to have Sunday as a complete day of rest, but when else am I gonna work on my gutted bathroom? It's cool, God knows we're not perfect, and loves us anyways. All of us, you included. ;)

Atheists like to highlight the bible as nothing more than a set of archaic, onerous rules. But if you look at it from a common sense position, it's all really for our own good. God wants us to be happy and love one another. Not oppressed.

Luke 14: "And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?"

One of my co-workers got married for the second time at age 44, when her husband was 29. She had her second child by him at age 45 ..her firstborn was 19 at the time. That was 20 years ago, and she's still happy as a lark, and so is he.
