Just thinking about Jesus today and how he was willing to go the mile to really help humanity in any way he could. And it got me thinking, would I do the same? Would you?

Forget about what god wants and all that, just look at human suffering. If you could spare all of humanity from another moment of suffering in exchange for giving up your life, would you?

And on a slightly different vein, is self-sacrifice always noble? Is there an appropriate time when we should stop giving our energy and resources to others and admit that we also need to be given to? Where does the fine line being altruism and personal need get drawn?

No, I wouldn't.

Not because I value my life more than the collective well-being of humanity, but because I feel that humanity needs to suffer in order to progress. Suffering leads to many innovations. Suffering is part of the human condition, without which we would become stagnant as a species.

That is one of the main reasons I would never want to go to Heaven, if such a thing exists.

Without hesitating, yes I would.

Jesus didn't suffer death for the physical world.

Is suffering always bad?
