I'm voting no.

John 19:11 HCSB said:
"You would have no authority over Me at all," Jesus answered him, "if it hadn't been given you from above. This is why the one who handed Me over to you has the greater sin."

This tells me that at least one sin is greater than another. On the other hand.

James 2:10 said:
For whoever keeps the entire law, yet fails in one point, is guilty of breaking it all.

This might imply that all sins are equal. However, we are given a spirit of sound judgement.

2 Timothy 1:7 HCSB said:
For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgement.

I'm going to use my spirit of sound judgement and use it to conclude that killing 20 people is a greater sin than stealing a pencil from your friend at school.

1 John 5:16-17 said:
If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that does not bring death, he should ask, and God will give life to him - to those who commit sin that doesn't bring death. I am not saying he should pray about that. All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin that does not bring death.

Some sin brings death. Some sin does not. That probably means one type of sin is worse than the other.

According to the most basic of scripture, no.

On a sin scale of 1-10, how bad is baking a cake for a same-sex wedding? Like a couple years in purgatory or an eternity in hell?

I can only think of a few scriptures that would make that a sin.

James 4:17 HCSB said:
So for the person who knows to do good and doesn't do it, it is a sin.

1 Corinthians 8:12 HCSB said:
Now when you sin like this against the brothers and wound their weak conscience, you are sinning against Christ.

If you view it as a sin to bake a cake for a same sex wedding then you shouldn't do it. It would be a sin and you will suffer consequences for committing that sin. I'm not sure it is equal to other sins.

Maybe a 4 or 5??

As a Catholic I can say for certain that not all sin is equal. Some are worth a few Hail Mary's, some require an Act of Contrition and others will require the purchase of a new Rosary because you're going to wear yours out before you're done.

I don't think they are equal either and I am not Catholic. Just by looking how the Top Ten are listed, the sins against God are first, the sins against others are in the lower portion. And Christ says the greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, soul and mind and the second greatest is love your neighbor as yourself. Clearly shows me all sin is not equal.

All sins are equal because all sins are in the mind of the sinner. There are no real sins.

I am happy to see in the poll a choice of "Other" as that is my choice.

To sin or "sinning" only applies to those people who are actually trying to do right, or those who have "the calling" as most people just do not count.

The word for "sin" is translated as "missing the mark" as like shooting at a target then some get close to the target and others might hit it dead center some times.

Most of humanity are not "sinning" because they are NOT even shooting at the target.

The only way for anyone to "miss-the-mark" is that they must first aim and at least be trying to hit the target (the target of not sinning).

Absolutely not.

The reason People don't do it is not because they are "sinning" it's because they would be supporting something they oppose.

Baking a cake for a KKK party isn't a "sin," but you would'nt do it, becuase it's helping something which you oppose.
