How do you pray?

So how do you pray? Do you keep in mind to whom it is that you are praying? Is it casual and relaxed, or do you prostrate yourself physically and spiritually before your Lord and God?

Praying is a very personal communication with God. So yes, I do know that I talk to him. The time of day doesn't matter. It can happen at any time (although I also have a set time where-in I prostrate myself to Him in prayer).

Praying does not necessarily mean one has to speak literally, imho. I also pray or talk to God in my mind, usually while I'm doing something, or even while I'm lying down and relaxed.
How many times have I asked God questions that had been answered (some of them almost instantaneously) while praying in my mind - one of them done even while in the shower (and it was even the one that was answered in a dramatic way)?
Based on those experiences that I believe God accepts those kinds of communications or prayers to Him.

I think a person who tries to keep God in his heart and in his mind in his everyday life indeed shows his endeavor to follow God. It is easy to get distracted by a lot of things especially nowadays - I sometimes end up getting distracted and still neglecting to do my casual talk to God.
I find that I have to make an effort to keep that communication line open, if I am to maintain my relationship with God.

Humility and reverence are a must, imho.

The only prayer learnt that I still use everyday is The Lord's Prayer. However, I don't pray it simply like a repetitious litany. I keep in mind the heartfelt meaning of each statement in that prayer.

There are many ways to bring god into your life, singing pop songs to him, like, always in my head by cold play would do the 'trick' nicely. it is actually something you enjoy, why not bring god into it? i am sure if you are true he will appreciate it, emotionally, of course.

I speak to the nature in my garden, in the form of nature communing with me. it works, every sensation you feel is a message for you alone to understand from the forces and energies around you. if you were to observe that the world is a reactive one, instead of one that does not react, then you would see that it will influence you in some way. if you were to think of a way to get influenced by nature or god, then i would have to think outside the confines of my slowly growing imagination to look to other sources for inspiration, after finding something inspiring, of course.

So, planets will influence your lives and thoughts with electromagnetic waves that reach us. the closer the planet is, the more it influences us, and where it is too, if others are in the way, etcetera etcetera.

Now, if the planets will hear your prayers, you will find that they are affected by your energies in sound waves that reach them. they will, as this is a energy that they cannot generate, absorb it the same was as a plant, yes? the energy will be earthed or grounded if electricity is to be believed, yes? this will influence the planet, and the planet will spin around, influencing us.

If we influence each other this way, then there must be a 'connection.' each time we have this exchange, somehow some way, we will find that we need each other. this is a relationship based on needs, of course. if we were not needed, then why would god think of us? if we were not needed then why would god conceive of us? we must be useful somehow to even be a figment in his imagination, the same way a parent needs the admiration of their child, psychologically.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I do appreciate nature - in fact, I'm awed by the sheer majestic beauty and splendor of it enough to make my heart sing - and they are magnificent testimony to His Existence!

That's what nature is: His Signature.

God has given us our own individual talents, and no doubt some are blessed with the talent for the arts. My faith do not limit me to enjoy the gifts that had been bestowed on others. The one piece of work that's been in my head for a few months now - I even requested it to be sung at choir (with my suggested rendition that's been rattling in my head - to sing it ACAPELLA - which was graciously performed) - is ODE TO JOY (Joyful, Joyful we adore thee God of Glory).
I don't know.....but somehow, it fills my heart to bursting!

I have already found my peace, Methusala. After a long fruitless, and empty waltz in worldly living -
I've finally found my rest. There is no need for me to search anymore. I've got no questions to ask about God - and if I do, I know to whom I'll do my asking.

I don't know how old you are....but it took me a long time to realize what's been missing all those years.
My husband and I were just musing a few nights back (he's a born-again too, you see)....that God seemed to have let us experience life without Him so we can clearly compare that life we used to lead to a life where He's in it.

From our viewpoint/experience, He's an indulgent Father who'd given us a free hand to experience the worldly - and yet He was always saving us by the scruff of our necks whenever we direly needed help and calling on Him.
Of course, we usually see the hand of God at hindsight. I took Him for granted. I only remembered Him when we needed Him. :) I thank Him for His patience with us.

I pray that He eventually pull you back to Him, as He did to us. Blessings to you....

I find myself agreeing with everything you said. Mindless prayer is worth nothing.

The Reward of Prayer. If you have time, I highly recommend this. You'll see praying in a different light.
