Yes, don't ***** out.

And if someone doesn't like it? They can find another church.

Yes, definitely.

Sure, tell people all about stoning people to death for picking up firewood on the Sabbath.

Ridiculous question and poll, especially without much context as to where the preaching occures. Assuming we are talking about inside a church (or on church property, or in someone's home, or somewhere requested of the church) why should preachers be censored?

What a douche. I mean a giant douche.

I didn't mean whether they should be punished for preaching. I am just asking whether it's appropriate. I am not asking whether it should be legal or not.

But you are still leaving too much out of the discussion. That is the context I am talking about.

Who would be the one deciding what is and is not appropriate? Speak of, what is the process (or context) to determine something is not appropriate. One person complaining, some group, other?

The whole thing just seems absurd to me to even question, and appreciate that coming from an agnostic.

If you believe the Bible as the word of God then you can't pick only what you like and ignore the rest.

You should vote no.
Well, my comment was about the speakers attitude rather than the poll question. On topic, I'd say that portions of the Bible should be (and are) put aside in favor of more modern and applicable precepts. Taking all of the text literally, or emphasizing all of the text equally does a disservice to the Christian cause. It's not so much about offense, but rather viability and credibility.

You get to decide.

You get to decide that too.

Now you are getting it. It's all up to you. Just vote the way that you feel is appropriate.

Did you listen to the sermon above? Quality viewing.

Edit: My favorite part is when he pronounces lepers as "leapers."

The repeated mispronunciation is unfortunate, and the preacher seems like an angry man. I stopped at 1:06 because I'd had enough finger-waggling and haranguing. But his obviously tiny congregation was digging it.

So? What's the problem here?

That is correct. You can do that. An individual can do whatever they want to do. On the other side of that is that other individuals can do whatever they want to do in response to what you want to do. Freewill is all encompassing and it should be accounted for when you are choosing how to view the world.

I did vote. Because of the lack of context as to why we are even discussing this I voted for preaching it all including the "offensive" parts.

So? What's the problem here?

The Bible is the most offensive book in existence. If not the most offensive then it is surely in the top 5. Should preachers be preaching from the Bible? If not, that's fine. If so, should he preach the whole Bible or should he disregard the offensive parts to make people feel better about themselves?

I thought it was a pretty straightforward question.

I voted, "Yes but not the offensive parts." Good job!

Why? Why not preach the "offensive" parts? More to the point, what do you find offensive in the Bible?

For your position to have merit we might as well be discussing editing and/or re-writing the Bible (again.)

what do you find offensive in the Bible?

This is offensive to an open homosexuals.

Romans 1:26-32 HCSB said:
This is why God delivered them over to degrading passions. For even their females exchanged natural sexual intercourse for what is unnatural. The males in the same way also left natural sexual intercourse with females and were inflamed in their lust for one another. Males committed shameless acts with males and received in their own persons the appropriate penalty for their perversion. And because they did not think it worthwhile to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them over to a worthless mind to do what is morally wrong. They are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, disputes, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, arrogant, proud, boastful, inventors of evil, disbedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, and unmerciful. Although they know full well God's just sentence - that those who practice such things deserve to die - they not only do them, but even applaud others who practice them.

This is offensive to rich people.

1 Timothy 6:17-19 HCSB said:
Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God, who richly provides us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the age to come, so that they may take hold of life that is real.
Luke 12:33 said:
Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Make money bags for yourselves that won't grow old, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

This is offensive to women.

1 Timothy 2:11-15 HCSB said:
A woman should learn in silence with full submission. I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to be silent. For Adam was created first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed. But she will be saved through childbearing, if she continues in faith, love, and holiness, with good sense.
1 Corinthians 14:34-35 HCSB said:
the women should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak, but should be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, they should ask their own husbands at home, for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church meeting.

This is offensive to liars like me.

Revelation 22:19 HCSB said:
And if anyone takes away from the words of this prophetic book, God will take away his share of the tree of life and the holy city, written in this book.

There are other scriptures that are offensive to drunkards, whores and whoremongers and oppressors of the poor. Can you give me some more time to post those?

Take all the time you would like. But before you spend a whole lot of time on this know that my opinion is you are deciding to take all these things as offensive.

Sin offends God. Worry about that if you want to worry about offence.

I mean, there are some evil leapers. ;)
