Just to point out, the passage in Deut was specifically talking about the priestly cast. That was a restriction put on the house of Aaron, not on anybody else (at the time).

So, except for priests in the House of Aaron, polygamy is OK.

So, you must have meant god the father.

How, again, would that disqualify Mormons from being followers of Christ?

That was what I said, God the father. That was what I meant. If the Mormon god is not the Christian God, who are they following?

Jesus Christ. It's the cornerstone of their faith and belief that we can only get to God, the Father through Jesus. It's in the name of their church. They end all of their prayers in the name of Jesus Christ. They take a sacrament symbolizing the sacrifice of Christ to atone for our sins. Only by holding a very narrow view of Christianity can you argue that Mormons are not Christians.

Considering that the Christ of the Christian Bible is fully man and fully God, the Mormon christ must be fully man and...well, fully man. The Christian God didn't work his way up to godhood, neither did the Christ. They have always been God. And yes, I take a narrow view, but our Christ said that the way WAS narrow.

The way is narrow, not the view.

Given the changes in Christian dogma over the centuries, it seems to me to be a very narrow viewpoint to say that a church that worships Christ and believes him to be the redeemer of mankind is not Christian.

Anyway, if humans are the children of God, then what are we to grow up to be?

Word games. A distinction without a difference.

I don't know what dogma you're talking about, but I side with the Church Fathers. Joseph Smith made many demonstrable errors in his teachings.

It's pretty hard to start a new church without being accused of making many errors. Some of them may even be real errors. That doesn't make the Mormon church a non Christian church. It just means that their dogmas are different from those of the Catholics, which are different from those of the Baptists, the Lutherans, and so on.

If a church teaches the divinity of Jesus and the atonement, then it is a Christian church.
