Nobody Is Getting Left Behind (Because The Rapture Is Never, Ever Going To Happen) -

The Revelations is apocalyptic in its descriptions. It is a "road map" in the sense that it tells believers what to expect - literally or not, we don't know. No one knows.

But yes, what we do know is Christ is Coming again in all His glory. Amen.

Jesus will come again as stated.

The Christ never left to begin with.

Jesus and Christ appear to be two separate entities who came together according to Richard Rohr.

Sorry for the off-topic rant.

Re: Nobody Is Getting Left Behind (Because The Rapture Is Never, Ever Going To Happen

That's a good point. Also, unless I'm mistaken, not all sects of Christianity follow that there is a rapture. Is that correct?

I believe that's true.

Re: Nobody Is Getting Left Behind (Because The Rapture Is Never, Ever Going To Happen

Hagee and Jakes are adherents of a heretical brand of "theology" known as, the word of faith movement. Other well known proponents include, Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer. You basically nailed it with the term "prosperity gospel".

I don't have seniority on that term, someone else coined it a long time ago but you're right, Osteen and Joyce Meyer are two proponents of that particular brand of heresy. Too bad - I liked Joyce Meyer before she lost her mind.

But HE PLUCKED THEM OUT OF DANGER!

Freeing them from Slavery by forcing Pharaoh, parting of the Sea, Mana from heaven, saving them from slaughter everytime they repent!

He'd plucked them out of danger or predicament - whether individually, or collectively as a people!

Where was it in the Bible that their enemies who'd come to slaughter them ended up killing one another - and the Israelites didn't even have to lift a single finger?

Wasn't Peter miraculously freed from prison?

Why did they end up as slaves numerous times? Why did they wander in the wilderness? Why did they get exiled in Babylon?

Because....they brought on the wrath of God and were PUNISHED for their unfaithfulness!

I'm not claiming to be an expert on the Bible.....but to not have understood that is a red flag that this blogger needs to study the Bible some more.

You should read up on the first century martyrs, the tortures they endured. These were faithful Christians, mind you. Not to mention the fact that most of the twelve were crucified. Stephen was stoned to death. Makes some people's version of the "last days" seem like a picnic.

Re: Nobody Is Getting Left Behind (Because The Rapture Is Never, Ever Going To Happen

I think the idea of the rapture was one of the cruelest ideas ever perpetuated on people yearning for comfort in a life that perhaps is not as they like it. One day, people will just try to make life better here for all while we have it, for when it is done, it is done.

One thing that's certain, even though we don't know the exact details, what Jesus/God had promised will be fulfilled.

Some disciples (including Apostles) who actually witnessed the Resurrection were still around during the first century. It's because they'd witnessed that they'd become full of courage and endured. We're not in the shoes of those who were martyred so we could only imagine and assume the terrible pain they'd suffered. We don't know if God intervened in any way (as in hastening the death, or numbing the pain, etc..,).

It seems there is a big difference though with those who had not seen the Resurrection, but simply have faith. I have to bring up John 20 again.

John 20

27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.

We don't know why God do things.

"When I finally calmed down about a week later, I decided to investigate his nonsensical claim further and attempt to do so with as open a mind as I possible could. It wasn’t an easy process. Or a short one. But once I reached the end of my prophetic investigative journey I reached one clear and indisputable conclusion.

I was wrong.

It hurt to admit it and to be honest it kinda still does. But there was no way around it – the rapture was never, ever going to happen.

You see, I had made the same mistake that Jack Van Impe makes. He shouts (or at least passionately pleas) the loudest and only hears others like him shouting that the end is nigh. So, over time he becomes convinced that the rapture is imminent, that he has it all (or at least a lot of it) figured out, and that everyone who disagrees will be left behind.

Like my prophetic hero, I was screaming the loudest that the rapture was imminent and I only surrounded myself with voices that agreed with me. Because of this, I was never able to hear a crucial piece of information: no one in the church has ever even believed in the rapture until the last 200 years or so."

I came to this very same conclusion a few years ago, but then, that's what education will do for you. Unlike this fellow, though, I believed this long before the internet was big through books from Hal Lindsey and his ilk. Like the author, though, it was just as hard for me to admit, just like it will be hard for some of you reading this to admit.

I also find it amusing that the very same people who will argue with me all day and all night over the fact that the word "Trinity" is not in the Bible will argue with me all day and all night that there is such a thing as the "rapture".

I've always believed, based on the Bible, that there are two separate 'Comings" in the future. One is where Christ comes FOR his saints, and the other is where he comes WITH his saints. In the first he meets them in the air; in the second he sets down on the Mount of Olives. I still think the first one is the Rapture and the second one is the Second Coming.

Re: Nobody Is Getting Left Behind (Because The Rapture Is Never, Ever Going To Happen

Or perhaps there is no such thing. That is why it is called faith and not fact. I can no more prove your god doesn't exist anymore than you can prove that he does.

Get a life! Look we got it, you don't believe but yet here you are again in a religious thread? Go disprove unicorns or something.

Yes sir, wolves in sheeps clothing.

Re: Nobody Is Getting Left Behind (Because The Rapture Is Never, Ever Going To Happen

I never bought into this "rapture" idea. Yeah there is some passages that maybe hint at this but seeing how the apostles went out? They were WAY more righteous then us and they were not spared suffering so why would anyone else.

I don't think any one picture brings home to me more questions about all that we were told when growing up than this one below. I took it at the gates of Bethseda, north of the Sea of Galilee last February. Not many people go there. I didn't see a single person while hiking the area. It shows a demon on the gate of the ruins of this town, dated to even before the time of Peter and his brother who supposedly were from there when they worked as fishermen when meeting Jesus. In those days the town was actually on the water, but a later earthquake moved the shore back a kilometer or two. Just how religious in Jewish tradition was the area really? Saw a lot more, but maybe that is a thread of its own.

Awww, sorry you're throwing a fit because I don't accept your beliefs as fact like some people try to pass it off as. don't like what I type, tough. DEAL with it. Nothing of what I said was incorrect.

stuff like this just drives me nuts.

no the word rapture does not appear in the bible, however the definition of the word does.
rapture is the latin word rapare which means to seize snatch or take away.

the main argument for the rapture comes from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17

The NT was written in Greek, though.

Re: Nobody Is Getting Left Behind (Because The Rapture Is Never, Ever Going To Happen

I agree with the last two points, but I'm not sold on the first - that we willingly inserted ourselves into this. I have no recollection of agreeing to anything of the sort. Perhaps that is by design, I

I hate to say too much in one post because it’s my experience that nothing will get addressed, but there’s much to be said. So just think about this for a moment: if only the past and future exist as time never stands still, what makes you think your riding the crest of time to new horizons never seen before? Perhaps the pinnacle of time has already washed over you and left your torso bobbing in the sea with a head barely above water, with shore in sight and sharks swimming right beneath the watery plane, maybe it’s this game to get to the safety of dry land, for which it’s known to me that you’re already there, toweled dry like me.

This sounds crazy right(?) It's like you've just been served an uncivilized margarita made with an ever-so puckering portion of barbaric sour mix. It may not taste good at first, but after a few sips you get used to it. :)

No, man, say as much as you'd like, please. It's rare to find this type of conversation, one that will maintain my awareness, of which, I find great interest in.

As to the construct of what we perceive as reality, I have no solid, tangible, design. While my mind (consciousness and what I perceive to be my soul) certainly exists, I am prone to doubt that what I perceive in the physical world, what I can see, touch, taste, smell and hear, is not what it appears to be. All I know is that it is a hell of a long way to fall, this expansion of consciousness and awareness, from where I once was to where I am now, and I suspect that the speed of which I fall will exponentially increase the more I look around with brand new eyes.
