(CNSNews.com) – Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson, who often speaks about his Christian faith, said he believes the Bible shows there are penalties for “immoral conduct” and that if a “disease-free” man and woman marry and stay faithful to each other, they will not get “horrible diseases” such as syphilis and AIDS.

“God says, ‘one woman, one man,’ and everyone says, ‘oh, that’s that old hat, that’s that old Bible stuff,’” said Robertson during a radio interview on Tuesday with Family Research Council President Tony Perkins.

“And I’m thinking, well, let’s see now," said Robertson, "a clean guy, a disease-free guy and a disease-free woman, they marry and they keep their sex between the two of them -- uh, they’re not going to get chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and AIDS. It’s safe.”

 No **** sherlock.

I used to like the show and Phil but lately he's been testing my patience.

He lost me at:

Look, blacks are currently the slaves of the democratic party. Weren't they better off as private slaves?

The premise, of course, is that blacks are naturally slaves.

what he says isn't wrong and there is a reason the bible preaches against sexual immorality and having more than 1 partner and even multiple partners.
even back then they had forms of STD's they just didn't know what they were.

what is worse is in a close quarters arrangment.

If I put up a wet paint sign on a wall and you lean into it and ruin your clothes, your clothes isn't ruined as punishment for ignoring the sign. Your clothes was ruined because the paint was wet and you ignored the sign that was trying to warn you. So, I think his choice of language is poor, no surprise there, but he's not that far off.

I Corinthians 6:9-10 speaks about sexual immorality. None will get to heaven, unless they repent of it (Luke 13:3) and receive Christ as their Lord and Savior for the remission of their sins.

Perhaps he means that they have traded one form of slavery for another.

Which rests on the premise of them being slaves naturally.

And he was clear - they were better off as private slaves.

No, it doesn't. Not necessarily, anyway.

.... which, of course, we know has nothing to do with this particular thread.

That's funny, I thought it was about a statement by Phil. He has other statements, you know. And those are relevant to his worldview and thereby pertinent to his other statements.

I'd also note that the OP is nothing except a statement by Phil, so let's not pretend you made any effort whatsoever to give the discussion direction. Next time, try an OP that goes beyond copy/paste.

Well - that's with the assumption that no one was raped - and that's where the religious 'rape shame' comes from.
That's also with the assumption that diseases and illnesses are all STDS and can't possibly spread any other way. Untrue - especially in today's day and age.

Isn't that just as true for a married gay couple? Or an unmarried monogamous couple of any orientation? Or even just for people who are selective about their partners and use condoms? This doesn't really seem to have anything to do with marriage or heterosexuality.

And of course, they both need to not share needles with anyone.
