Biblical Criticism.

It is easy to misunderstand what is meant by "love thy enemy" as I have heard some people say that they do not have any enemy, and with no enemy then one can not love thy enemy.

The word "enemy" is not understood correctly, as it does not have to mean some warrior on a battlefield or some violent criminal - no.

Any person who commits a sin is thereby being an enemy.

As like some one steals your pencil then that is being an enemy, or anyone telling you a lie is thereby being an enemy, even a very young child stealing a cookie from their parents' cookie jar is being an enemy, and thereby to "Love thy enemy" applies to everyday life and interactions with anyone.

This is why "turning the other cheek" might not be so dramatic and it might be a slap by a brother or sister or slapped by any loved one as the slap is the action of an enemy even if it is only a small action, and many times the small offenses are the hardest to "love thy enemy".

If we get fired from a job then that Boss is a type of enemy, and a crazy driver who almost (or does) crashes into our car is a type of enemy, so we have our enemies all around and close by.

That is why when the enemy is a person we know then when they take our coat then to give them our shirt also - that can have a very profound effect especially when our enemy is really a person that we have feelings of love or affection.

Jesus was talking about every day life and not just some traumatic event.

The "lake of fire" means a place of cleaning and purification, as in 1 Corinthians 3:15 "If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire." So the person is being "SAVED" by the "FIRE" and not hurt by it.

Eternal punishment does not mean eternal punishing.
The story of the creation starts in Genesis 1:1, but there is a huge change in verse 2 where the earth became void and formless with darkness everywhere.

First came the creation and billions of years later then came the renewing or rebuilding of the earth.

As is said here = Quote: "Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth." KJV, Psalm 104:30

The Bible actually tells a story that the earth was populated by spirit creatures and they had a war which caused ruin on the earth (void and formless and darkness) and THEN God created mankind as God renewed the face of the earth.

No one has to believe that, but that is what the Bible is saying.
