If my observation of boards such as this one are any indication, when given the choice between standing up for liberal values and being politically correct, most people opt for the latter. Since Islamism is a sacred cow for so much of the left, I would expect any such criticism to be tempered to an extreme degree or couched in such weasle talk as to appear to not criticise at all.

People are more afraid of being accused of racism than they are willing to uphold human rights.
 
While FGM is far older than Islam, the practice was supported by Mohammad.

Muslims now have an "out" for things Western civilisation finds abhorrant...the cry of "It's not a genuine hadith" rings out. An hadith that has been accepted and supported for a thousand years suddenly becomes "not genuine". Yeah, right!

What is the scope of the article I posted in the OP? Is it not Muslims forcing this practice over the land they (ISIS) occupy? If you wish to split-hairs over word choice then you're missing the point.
 
You know what would work? Signs. People could write down things on pieces of paper and take a selfie and post them online. That will not only show how much we care but will send a really strong message as well.

As far as I know one of the first things Morsi did in Egypt after taking power was to decriminalise female genital mutilation.

These fanatics seem to be terrified of the idea that a woman could enjoy her sexuality.
