What If Jesus Was Grotesquely Ugly? [W:19]

Re: What If Jesus Was Grotesquely Ugly?

Jesus was NOT a carpenter / Joe & Mary Were looking for a Days Inn? / Respected among royalty, who was royalty? / Jesus WAS a criminal- you think they killed him for his good looks?

Do you know ANYTHING about what you're talking about, or are you just making stuff up? You seem like a hateful person.

‹›NLT MARK 6
Mark 6:3 3Then they scoffed, "He's just a carpenter, the son of Mary* and the brother of James, Joseph,* Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us." They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.

Re: What If Jesus Was Grotesquely Ugly?

I don't suppose the appeal of his teachings is based on the assumption that he was a male model.

Re: What If Jesus Was Grotesquely Ugly?

Never heard that before in my life.

Yes, Joseph and Mary went to an inn but were turned away, and apparently the inn owner told them they could sleep in the manger, which they did.

Why Were Joseph and Mary Turned Away by the Innkeepers? | Unity

Seriously dude, post some links because your stories are ridiculous. I don't where you ever heard some of these things, but they are stupid as hell.

Who is "dude" or are you 12 years old? You know the birthplace of Christ? If so, you are the only one. You profess to know what as opposed to my questionings? The account of the birthplace were never intended to read as historical accounts hence the everlasting debate of the birthplace. The time of birth still is debated (but this is done by intelligent people that so leaves you out). Jesus was an illiterate as was the vast majority of Palestine. (Makes one wonder how the FACTS in the bible came about).
A carpenter? Afraid not there was very little such work. Only one verse in the New Testament mentions it. At best the SON OF GOD was a day laborer and ignorant like the rest of the population that knew not Hebrew to speak or read. Nazareth you see was a city of mud and stones....very little wood as few could afford it.
Stop watchin.g movies and learn the lost art of reading.

Get out of the brain washing bible and get in to a library. Faith knows nothing but faith.

If you want to be taken seriously then POST a link. Any moron can say anything, it doesn't mean a thing.

I don't believe in organized religion, but the story about Jesus is pretty well known.

Oh, don't encourage him. He's probably been reading reviews of Aslan's Zealot.

I can't believe a person would start a thread like this. There is no point other than to be . . . well, you know. :2razz: So many, many weirdos.

Re: What If Jesus Was Grotesquely Ugly?

Well, there's no need to make insulting remarks about learning the lost art of reading, etc.

But speaking of reading, I don't think Jesus was illiterate. Didn't He read the Torah in the temple when He was 12?

Yes He did. Luke 4:16-17

 I have to agree with you. I don't think that had anything to do with his popularity. It's not like he was going around sending selfies or anything. Lol!

I heard that Brad Pittism goes from strength to strength. Of course it can't compete with the religious doctrines of Johnny Deppism.

Something tells me Rhinefire didn't think this one through.

I might join those faiths.

Does it matter? None of the retarded things you've been saying have any evidence to support them, and since there is at least an account of Jesus' life, that makes it more valid than anything you have to say on the matter. You are just some dude on the internet.

Ok, you're right there are disputes about the birth Place and time. As far as Jesus being illiterate, Depends what you mean by illiterate, a lot of People claim he was based on a study, that something like 93% of the People in the area were illiterate, but that has been disputed based on other evidence, (buisiness documents, synagogues, graffiti and so on), chances are he could at least read, given that torah study was extremely important for religious Jews (His parents were probably religious), and given that his sayings rely heavily on OT references.

A carpenter is an English translation, it could be just a regular day laborer, but it could also be a day worker, chances are his work was done in cities Close to Nazareth where there was more of a market for Wood work (or general labor).

It sounds to me, like you read one or 2 books (maybe Reza Aslans book) and now you think you're a New Testament scholar.

Without knowing you I will say that I have read more books in my life time than you will ever contemplate. I have always found the absurd concept that this person was the son of God. Truly there has never been a more ridiculous lie ever perpetrated on mankind. I will never debate this with any follower because faith allows for no rational. Some folks today doubt we landed on the moon and I avoid them as well. The only thing for certain about a followers soul is that is lost. I do believe in a creator but there is no trace of his/her/it's work in the form of a savior.

Prove The Messiah.

I've got nothing to prove. I'm not the one making ridiculous threads and ridiculous allegations with nothing to back them. Why do you hate Jesus?

I don't see any point in debate either. But I would advise you against arrogance. I was astonished to read your "Without knowing you I will say that I have read more books in my life time than you will ever contemplate."
