Your statements don't make sense. No I do not believe in macro evolution. No I don't believe in neanderthals as you probably define them.

Scientific theories (valid, peer reviewed) are comprised of all known facts. A fact unto itself is meaningless. For example: look up in the night sky when not eclipsed by clouds and little shiny things are visible (fact, undisputed).

Now to theories:

Dogmatic, i.e. religious belief systems: they're god, spouses of gods, kids of gods, rollers of boulders uphill for eternity, and that there place up there is where gods hang out (Heaven = above us)

Scientific, combining all known facts: holy batman, Jesus, they're stars and planets!!!

I think that a soul is something that is very nice to want and comforting to believe in; but that's about the end of it.

No it's not. I have a hypothesis, and then gather facts to both try to prove and disprove it (null hypothesis); if it holds up under that scientific scrutiny, then a valid theory first forms.

Everyone is answering your question based on their personal definition of "soul". Wouldn't it be more logical to define "soul" before we all agree or disagree whether the defined term exists or not?

I believe humans are special, as they are the only creatures on earth that have souls. Animals have spirit, but no souls.

Animals have souls just as we do.. They were created by God/Source just as we were.... God created the universe and everything in it from his own ethereal substance--thus we are part of the Source as He is part of us....
