Ian McCormack - an Atheist - Dead on Morgue Slab - Goes to Hell . . .

I do believe that we are a soul or spirit that has a physical body to use on Earth. When our body dies, our soul leaves. I do think I'll see loved ones that have passed on, but I'm confused by "spirit guide". What do you mean there?

A spirit guide is a spirit who is sort of "assigned" to guide you through your life.. You may think of it as intuition--that "feeling" that you get that something is wrong or something is good, etc....Loved ones in Spirit can also act as guides....

Hmmm.... Do you know who your guide is or is it just a mysterious thing?

Actually, many people do get to know their guides--through meditation usually.....I saw my guide once in a dream.visit, but I mostly rely on my loved ones in Spirit...

Sweetie, perhaps you searched in all the wrong places.... The Brain is not the same as your conscienceness/soul/spirit..despite what scientists may think....You mean like a crystal ball? Seriously, I can understand the frustration of the search...It is a journey of discovery that many undertake, but is not always successful.

Please call me Conan, Bearer of the Mighty Sword! ;)

Yeah, what do scientists know anyways...

Oh the search didn't frustrate me at all, it did give me an answer. Look at it as a security patrol outside the perimeter wire- NOT finding the 99th horde working it's way through the wire is just as 'successful' as finding them busy cutting their way in. :peace

I'm not making light of it, I just don't have any other reference to go by -- is it sort of like in Harry Potter where they have their own patronus that they can call on whenever they need them? Like Harry's was a white stag and other people's were a phoenix, dog, etc.

That is interesting..I have read something similar. Perhaps that is a part of the brain that is responsible for the ability to astral travel...Do you remember if the article said anything about further studies?

I don't remember reading about further studies. However, I'd like to see your proof of this astral travel...though I'm going to guess you won't be able to provide this proof.

OK, Conan of the mighty sword---but, it is never too late on this path of discovery........

Not exactly...Your guide(s) are spirit who no longer need to incarnate...We usually don't remember them, but they have a great affection for us and try to keep us on the right path...When we transition they, as well as our loved ones are there to meet us... They work with us during our life review helping us to see where we went wrong and how we could have handled things better.. They assist us in planning our next life and what we want to accomplish or experience for soul growth...

No, of course I cannot provide proof of astral travel...I do know that we all do it on an almost nightly basis, but seldom remember--only bits and pieces..I know of several people who have learned to astral project at will and they "are" able to remember....Monroe and a few others have written books on their experiences...

It sounds like you're talking about dreaming.

I'll try and find it, but I read an article about Swiss doctors that accidentally caused a woman to feel like she left her body, simply because they'd stimulated a specific part of her brain.

You can stimulate any sensatino in the brain artificially, you can stimulate the feeling of burning, does that mean that no one actually ever burns? Does that mean that if someone says they felt a burning sensation we should assume they are imagining things?

Until a person is "brain dead" they are not truly "dead." As long as the brain continues to function all sorts of effects are bound to occur. Resuscitate a person who has been "dead" for a couple of hours or more...then we'll know if there is an afterlife...maybe.

I think it is about a dream made of combination of neurons sparkling one last time! These neurons though may be indoctrinated to involve dream like movies going from religious associations to other scenery depending on the belief of the person.

You know the expression "Whatever floats your boat?" In this case it may rather be about "Whatever sinks your boat!"

If there's no other proof of a burn, or no apparent cause for the burning sensations, then yes we should assume they are.

If someone said he smelled fire, yesterday, you wern't there (on NDE you CAN'T be there), why wouldn't you take his word for it?

If someone said he felt a burning sensation, and you were in no position to see evidence for it, i.e. the sensation happened a while back, and you wern't in a position to see the cause, you'd have no reason to deny it.

Burning at the time is different, at that point you wouldn't believe him because you'd expect to see more evidence than there is.

in a NDE, what other evidence would you expect to see?

Well, I'm not sure of all of the things I'd expect to see. If they all of a sudden knew something about me that I knew, 100%, that no one else could know...that might be evidence. Certainly they'd have to be able to see hidden things (from their perspective in a bed) if they claim to have been outside their body, floating above their body.

yup, they have done studies into that as well, people that calim to be floating above their body, which is one type of NDE, others they just go, or start to go, to a different realm.

Well, until they can demonstrate, somehow, this journey to a different realm it makes more sense to guess that it's probably the brain doing weird things under stress.
