The christian right is outraged! Check out some of the comments on Breitbart.

Christians certainly have the right to protest and/or boycott Google over this. But what are they boycotting, exactly? The fact that the entire world doesn't stop to acknowledge that Christians are celebrating today? Some might call that an "entitlement" mentality.

Sounds like some people need to get over themselves. Seriously.

Here's my opinion on this:

This is just as stupid as Chick-fil-A and the nonsense they got involved with on the Gays. Note to all businesses: you are here to make profit and not to piss people off. Stop getting involved with political matters and start to please your customers!!!!

If you work on that you will find just pleasing us is your hardest task!

I object to "Chavez Day" regardless of what it coincides with.

I guess we can expect Google to be celebrating other socialist like Saul Alinsky in January, Vladimir Lenin in April or Barack Obama in August.

Not only entitlement but also persecution mentality.

Talk about **** that doesn't matter, I'm a Christian and I don't give a damn. Why? Because what google makes of its logo doesn't affect my faith, my beliefs, who I am, it affects nothing at all to do with me, so I don't give a damn.

It's hard to give up 1500 years of attention whoring.

Imagine how they'd crumble in the face of actual persecution.

Let’s see…start another insiped Christian bashing thread to make fun of Christians who might feel persecuted when the only Christian to post his opinion of Chavez Day has stated that he could care less.

Interesting.

Not very intelligent but interesting.

So then what's your take on the MSM forum thread that is actually full of Christians complaining about this?

This thread was inspired by many comments on several far-right websites cursing, threatening, and otherwise acting like children over this. Personally, I see nothing "insipid" or "not very intelligent" about raising the issue here for discussion, or "bashing" the people who are making a fuss over it.

I do applaud the Christian posters here who have not followed the lead of others elsewhere, though.

Obviously, you need to get with the plan...

google issued a statement on this..

"We enjoy celebrating holidays at Google but, as you may imagine, it’s difficult for us to choose which events to highlight on our site. Sometimes for a given date we feature an historical event or influential figure that we haven’t in the past.”

it's not a big deal but " it's difficult for us to choose...." sounds a lot like bull**** to me.

it's ok though, i'll bet Cesar celebrated Easter ;)

Well... it's rather distressing, but Google owns us all and governs our lives so pretty much it can do whatever it wants.

Cesar Chavez WAS a christian, (in both name and deed).
