University Takes Action to Punish Student

On the contrary, we are on page ten of a thread about a kid's extreme reaction to being asked to step on a random piece of paper with a name he himself scribbled on it.

Is this a response to me? If so, it doesn't make any sense

By all accounts the people threatening violence seem to be in an extreme minority. So casting this as some huge social issue is about as moronic as the kids original reaction to a class exercise.

I disagree with your point for I think an "extreme minority" can and have in the past created "huge social issue(s)" Timothy McVeigh, anyone?

unrelated to this specific topic but as an example of an "extreme minority" we have the deaths of a Texas DA, his wife and one of his prosecutors plus the murder of the prison official in Colorado that all seem to be tied to cases involving the Aryan Brotherhood.

Wee bit of a stretch to define a practicing LDS as an "extreme minority," much less compare this student to Timothy McVeigh or Mormonism to the Aryan Brotherhood.

You drew a direct comparison to the violence we so over such issues in the islamic world, like wide spread rioting, violence, and random murders. That is nothing like Timothy McVeigh, nor did McVeigh's action garner the man much, if any, public support.

Hence, it doesn't amount to some "huge social issue" it amounts to some crazy people that are largely excommunicated from all social circles

Dude, the AB is the very definition of an extreme minority. They do not get anything close resembling popular support and are almost universally loathed.

Are they capable of violence? Sure, but that doesn't make them some "huge social issue".

I'm referring to people threatening violence. I'm sure lots of people found the exercise offensive, but we are a free society and such disagreement is not only harmless. And I would say healthy in a free society.

it only becomes a problem when they want such religious concerns to take the form of laws or use violence to silence those that disagree.

I thought my point was rather clear but I guess not. The "extreme minority" is not the student, it is not the Mormon church - it is instead those who are sending death threats to the professor in 'support' of Ryan Rotela

jesus, spell check can be an evil thing

That goes for both the left and the right.
