Christians in Jerusalem want Jews to stop spitting on them [W:45]

Didn't read but a few posts in this thread, most of it is very likely ridiculous gibberish, but I've been to Israel several times, and I've been spit on three times, all in Jerusalem; I decked all three of them, and the police arrested them without me having to file charges, so claiming it's 'Da Joos!!!' is just rubbish; it's some Jews of a particular sect, and Jews that are far from popular with the Israeli government and most citizens. I've been treated worse here in my own country, the U.S., by a variety of non-Jews, so it wasn't any big deal for me. Most Jews aren't even religious anyway, just culturally Jewish.

but most muslims are animals ??

you made that argument about "Jews washing their hands in worship of Satan"

For the record I didn't raise that. You did.

(I'm repeating this again on the off chance that seeing what you're actually claiming in writing will make it clear what a ridiculous claim it is).

Then I replied quoting Rabbi Trachtenberg whose work is a vindication and which you continually ignore. Incidentally, he published another book:

"Our library is named for the beloved rabbi and scholar who served our congregation in the 1950s. Upon his untimely death in 1959, his widow left his book collection to us as a living legacy. There were over 2,000 books: works of philosophy, history, and biography, volumes in Hebrew, German, and Yiddish, an extraordinary reference section. The collection included classics written by Rabbi Trachtenberg himself: Jewish Magic and Superstition and The Devil and the Jews."

Whatever, feel free to continue making your generalizations, basing grand ideas about large groups of people (who somehow always seem to be Jewish) on a handful of quotes, opinions or actions of fundamentalists, opinions or actions of extremists

Israel Shahak and Norton Mezvinsky: “It is not unreasonable to assume that Gush Emunim, if it possessed the power and control, would use nuclear weapons in warfare to attempt to achieve its purpose.”

your seemingly inexhaustible supply of ignorance regarding anything Jewish

In some ways, Judaism is like Hinduism. There are different sanitized versions according to who's listening.

Your post is another example of the following:

The response to your comments is always the same since your comments are always the same:

Your overgeneralizations and cherry-picking of exceptions and extremists in a vain attempt to justify your misrepresenting anti-Israel and anti-Jewish positions need no response, since none of them have any logic or credibility. Nothing you say has any accuracy in the context in which you present; all you do is attempt to further your anti-Israel and anti-Jewish agenda with lies and misrepresentations. Anyone who debates you sees this and points it out. It is completely unnecessary to discuss the content of what you post, since that content is contextually irrelevant. It is far more important to point out how your posting tactics are completely dishonest. This is the REAL issue in regards to your posting.

And that about sums it up.

It's all you ever post, shanners. Misrepresentations, overgeneralizations, and exceptions by extremists. Never anything credible or something other than what I've indicated.

These fundamentalist and ultra-orthodox groups are not tiny fringe groups They have a great deal of influence on the Israeli government, especially the Likud governments. The members of Gush Emunim constitute a significant percentage of the elite units of the Israeli army. Overall the religious parties represent about 25% of the Israeli electorate, a percentage which will only increase due to the high fertility of these groups - 10-15 children per woman, and with the state of Israeli politics and the increasing numbers of these religious groups it is unlikely that future governments can be formed without their participation. I suggest you read some Norman Zucker:

"One of the major successes of theopolitics has been the institutionalization of the Orthodox rabbinate within the state. The Orthodox rabbinate in Israel has been established as a monopoly - neither Reform nor Conservative rabbinic ordinations are recognized - and it is, in part, supported by the state. This monopoly and state support, in conjunction with the coercive tactics of the religious parties in the Knesset, has given the Orthodox rabbinate a good deal of power. It uses this power to further the observance of Orthodox norms, often violating the civil rights of the nonobservant Israeli ... Orthodox Judaism has become firmly established in Israel's armed forces. "

Norman L. Zucker, The Coming Crisis in Israel: Private Faith and Public Policy,

it's some Jews of a particular sect

Which is rapidly increasing in population due to the high fertility of these groups. And not just in Israel:

"Ultra-orthodox British and American Jews are set to outnumber their more secular counterparts by the second half of this century according to research by a University of Manchester academic. Historian Dr Yaakov Wise says the increase in religious British Jewry - recognisable by their traditional dress - is now outstripping the decline in the overall Jewish population which has been shrinking by one to two per cent each year since the 1950s. European ultra-orthodox Jewry is expanding more rapidly than at any time since before World War Two."

'Majority of Jews will be Ultra-Orthodox by 2050' | The University of Manchester

and Jews that are far from popular with the Israeli government and most citizens

Not true. They have have a great deal of influence over the government, as I explained above.

I have plenty of dignity and self-respect, but Christians ARE taught to turn the other cheek, and I was in a very religious mindset when I went on that trip.

It does go contrary to human nature, so I understand your skepticism. However, it's not hard to do if one has a sense of honor and duty.

As a Christian, it's the right thing to do.

Think about everything Christians have done to Jews from the inquisition onward. Of course there is some anger. "Turn the other cheek" is about not perpetuating that anger. It's about setting a good example of what a Christian is, so that the next one doesn't get spit on.

The only way I know how to honor God is to take it on the chin for Him.

The only way I know how to honor Christianity is to try my damndest to live like one.

Why can't that same argument be used for the Palestinians that have suffered at the hands of Jews?

If someone did that to me in Jerusalem, particularly if I were on a pilgrimage, I would be inclined to dismiss it. If anyone did that to my wife or my child, that person would get KNOCKED THE **** OUT.

NO ONE would dismiss being spat upon their face.

What's your point? If I post a video of a white KKK member spouting racist propaganda, does that mean white people are racist?

The lengths people go to dismiss a Jewish crime.

Spitting on anyone should be considered an assault.. In NYC people get citations for spitting on the sidewalk. No excuse for this.

And considering aids, very dangerous.

I'm Israeli and i'm fine with criticism of Jews or Israel, nor do I take this thread personally, particularly because my criticisms of Haredi Jews pale towards any criticisms even 24107 might have towards them.
Still, it doesn't look like he's directing his outrage at this particular minority group...

A very small minority of Palestinians conduct attacks on Israel, yet that doesn't spare them all being hated by so many.

The lengths people go to dismiss a Jewish crime.
Same question. If a white man spits on a Jew, is that a "white crime"? What inference would you make from such an incident about white men in general?

A very small minority of Palestinians conduct attacks on Israel, yet that doesn't spare them all being hated by so many.
Sorry, I fail to see the relevance between that statement and anything that's been discussed in this thread.

as from all israelis i ask for forgivness from some stuipd orthodox jews...
those orthodox spit on us to sometimes when we walk in their areas in jerusalem...

but people remmber that they are less than 5% of the population and also big % of those 5% are not all that angry and hatefull..

Its sad but true, there are ugly people everywhere.
