So the making of a film depicting Muhammad in a not-so-favorable way was sufficient enough to throw the entire Muslim world into chaos. . .

$70k may be chump change in the US, but one must consider the cost-of-living difference in Pakistan. So $70k is more like $420k in Pakistan.

Excellent. The next time the US tries to accomplish an economic goal (i. e. via the use of a military invasion or diplomacy) in a Muslim country, no need to waste time protesting in the streets of the US about the moral implications of the act (i. e. Cindy Sheehan style). Just make a anti-Muslim film, and the extremists in that country will throw uncle sammy's plan into the wastebasket. It's like having your own personal terrorists :)
